April 10, 201412 yr this not best way to start season first road trip we now 0-2 Fish will win tomorrow at least
April 10, 201412 yr Jesus I was thinking Ramos threw more pitches last night. He threw a 10-pitch inning and didn't pitch the prior day. I want to fight Mike Redmond.

April 10, 201412 yr Author Yes I did not even realize Ramos was available for some reason. That was just pure idiocy. But it also did snowball quickly on Marmol.
April 10, 201412 yr but allot sport writer have national fight with brave for nl east their got us fight with mets and phy for 3,4,5 postion in stand in nl east
April 10, 201412 yr Marmol in the 8th with a one run lead with AG Ramos sitting in the bullpen. I'd kick Redmond's ass all the way back to Miami. There will be more of this to be sure. Red is setting up Marmol to do to this team what Heath Bell did to us in 2012. Just furious over this bs.
April 10, 201412 yr Well, at least the hitting was there. Yelich had a great day and Dietrich hit a decent day at the plate. The offense is hitting way better than I thought.

April 10, 201412 yr Author In the 3 losses you can look to just some idiot mistake or error that cost us the game. These types of losses are the worst. Sadly, they seem to be predictable.
April 10, 201412 yr Walking Rendon was a big deal. It makes absolutely no sense to IBB a guy to face Jayson Werth who's probably the Nationals best hitter. It forced Marmol to throw a cookie down the middle. With 1B open, there's a possibility that Marmol pitches differently. Probably would've had some confidence to throw some sliders and get hitters to chase. Marmol isn't a ground ball pitcher so there's literally no point in loading the bases there. Walk or not, Marmol was gonna have to face Werth with two men on (barring a miraculous double play)... Marmol wasn't forced to throw a cookie down the middle. Even with the bases loaded he could have pitched more breaking balls cuz I'd rather have one run walked in or even wild pitched in than four runs off a grand slam. Marmols pitch selection was at fault, not the walk.

Marmols pitch selection was at fault, not the walk. That's all irrelevant because Marmol has no business pitching the 8th inning in a fucking 1 run game to begin with

Marmols pitch selection was at fault, not the walk. If you're going to setup that situation, Steve Cishek should've been facing Jayson Werth. The point of loading the bases would be to try for a double play. The odds of Carlos Marmol getting Werth to hit into a DP are slim to none. Marmol is not a GB pitcher.
April 10, 201412 yr They should really just DFA Dobbs and Marmol at this point Marmol allowed a grand total of 0 ER his first four appearances with the team. The problem isn't Marmol. He needs to be used right. He without a doubt SHOULDN'T be in a one run game against a really good Nationals offense. Also with the Dietrich hate around here. Yes he cost us with his defensive miscues, but his hitting put runs on the board, so at worst he had a neutral impact on the game. He obviously won't continue to have miscues on defense every game this season. Seems likely to be early season jitters. I'm fine with him playing 3B some games, but he should predominantly be at 2B, as he's a potential long term 2B fixture for this team. All the reasons that led to tonight's loss are easily fixable. Red's gotta use our bullpen correctly, the defense has to shore itself up, and the starting pitchers outside of Fernandez/Eovaldi need to get their sh*t together. I'm excited to see the team continue to put runs on the board. We'll lose plenty of games because of poor managing decisions and little things here and there, but I like that long term I know that our offense can give our pitchers some cushion to work with early in games and could potentially come back late. That hope didn't exist last year. Keep your head up guys. We're over .500, we've played less than 2% of a major league season thus far, and we may finally have an offense that isn't AAA caliber. The negatives from this game are things that can be fixed.

The negatives from this game are things that can be fixed. Our offense is not good. It's been 9 games. When it's all said and done, it's very likely that we'll have one of the worst offenses in baseball again. As for the pitching aside from Fernandez/Eovaldi getting their shit together, that's tough to do because those other guys aren't good either. Henderson Alvarez is better than he's pitched so far. Our #'s 4 and 5 are pretty bad.

Good point but that brings up the excruciating point of managers stupidly refusing to use their closer before the ninth inning even in high pressure situations. Ugh
April 10, 201412 yr Three pages of replies and no one has mentioned what I think is a bigger issue , the fact that we blew a 5-0 lead. We finally have an improved offense and we knock out a great starting pitcher in the second inning... We cannot lose games like that regardless of how frustrating the eighth inning was.
April 10, 201412 yr Tonight's tough loss will be cost big damage to us but it will be fine. It just revealed the cancer of our team earliest season : defense and bullpen managing. And Nats was best team in east division. Also We've been played terrible at Nationals park so i thought it cannot overcome it easily. Tomorrow match will be overmatched to us but we will win it.

Our #'s 4 and 5 are pretty bad. Thanks Debbie Downer. You bring great optimism to the table. I understand the flaws with the team. You say the offense will be bad, and I agree that it will likely be bottom 10 in baseball bad. But given how bad last season was, we could be bottom 5 in baseball and we could easily improve the offensive output by a total of 100 runs. If the pitching staff can be even 3/4th as good as it was last season, the bullpen/defense get it at least somewhat together, and the offense doesn't produce the worst offense in Marlins history like last year (and this offense isn't THAT awful. Guys like Dietrich/Yelich/Salty/improved Stanton/McGehee make this offense a hell of a lot better than it was last season).
April 10, 201412 yr Tomorrow match will be overmatched to us but we will win it. Fish actually are good vs Strasburg
