Edmeister
Everyone except for maybe Yelich has given up. Stanton dropped a bomb that has definitely hurt his teammates. A front office that doesn't have the shits to give it's fan a solid team. A manager that has no idea how to do his own job. A hitting coach that has his hitters in the top in strike outs and double play stats. I will be immensely dissapppointed and sincerely upset if Stanton leaves this club the same way Hanley did. I know it's not the fans that hes upset with but saying shit like "5 months doesn't make 5 years", which mind you, at first I thought it was misinterpreted is really just.. Appalling. Sorry about the rant but I don't think there are any other marlins fans that I would feel the need to share this with than this forum. Admin
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I loathe this argument, nothing personal against you because SO many share it and in every sport and every fan base. It's basically saying that if a team tried their hardest every day, they'd win every game.
DTrain
The consolation prize is......(drum roll).... Braves will die a horrible death in the playoffs (or fall painfully short of a playoff spot). The Marlins (and Stanton) didn't give up. They lost their ace months ago, fought hard, overcame a shitty manager and All World Douche Bag owner and kept us in the Wild Card hunt until the last days of August. Edmeister
I do feel bad.. that's the point. I guess saying everyone was very incorrect just a form of frustration given the last 3 series. I expect to see the team we had in July but they are no where to be seen

The comments that stanton made that hurt teammates. Are there any quotes to teammates feeling displeasure. Curious to find one. I would assume that they would be hurt. Man, what a rough patch this has been. Now it is confirmed payroll will increase correct for 2015. I pray we dont do another overhaul but the jones and salty experiment clearly hasnt worked. SilverBullet
Way too much doom and gloom Edmeister... The past few days have sucked but unless we lose twenty-five in a row to end the year, this has been a surprisingly pleasant season in the grand scheme of things. We're fine. Even with all the negativity around here at times, if you had told us in February that we'd have a near .500 year with a legit playoff chance in late Aug/early Sept... I think even the most pessimistic people around here would have said "oh hell yes I'll take that in a heartbeat."
JackRubysDog
Disagree. The team has over achieved, but there are too many holes, and the expected "major" improvements at 1B, 2B and C just haven't happened. The rotation has been a bit of a mess, and we've had a few relievers who we hope never to see in a Marlins uniform again. Offense aside from Yelich and Stanton (and a pre-ASB McGehee) is too streaky. Having said that, if this FO is worth a damn, then a 2011/12-style investment in the way to go in the off season. The outfield is young and has the potential to be stellar. A solid rotation of Fernandez (if he comes back as Jose Fernandez), Alvarez, Cosart, Eovaldi and Koehler could be pretty mean. It's just that infield that needs major surgery - although Hech is turning into a perfectly servicable No. 8 and Dietrich could be the answer at 2B. I can't believe how poor Salty has been, and Garrett Jones is a bust, as is post-ASB McGehee, which is a real shame. This season has been great, but not brilliant. Yes, he was good in 2009 but tanked after. Glad to see him leave. Team is trying and working hard but making mistakes. Can't blame them. They may not be used to the pressure of winning and fighting for a playoff spot. They are young, remember?

Eddie Altamonte
Dude what's your problem? I know last night's loss is a very tough one and makes our way to the playoff an uphill battle but it is still possible. I like this team, this team has battled through all kind of adversity. Many teams wish they had the young arms that the Marlins do...Quality arms! Our Outfield is just simply outstanding. Our catching situation is very good. From the moment Salty was signed I stated many will be disappointed because of the swing and miss factor of his hitting. Many expected him to be Johnny Bench for us, I never did... Salty is hitting 10 pts under his career average and still can possibly reach 15 HRs this season (has 11). He wasn't ever going to hit 25 HRs for us (this is not Fenway Park). He has been a bit up and down but overall he has done a solid job. Mathis is a great defensive backup... Most of you that know me are aware of my feelings about backup catchers in the Majors. Our manager has had a great year he has kept this team together managed our pitching staff exceptionally well. I believe he is the manager of the year, although he may never win it over Mattingly or Roenicke. Many are very critical towards Redmond, but he has many reasons to fail this year and he may even end up with a winning season. Now going to the infield McGehee besides his post all Star game slide has been nothing but outstanding for this team He still leading the team in hits, Batting average, 2nd in in OBP. I feel he is starting to break out of his hitting funk and will have a solid last month of the season Hechavaria has had a good year with the bat and is showing some defensive improvement, although he is very far from becoming a good defensive SS Garrett Jones is just a disaster anyway you look at it One of the worse fielding 1st baseman in the majors .316 OBP His 13 HR's are not sufficient to compensate 2nd base is just a hot mess in it's entirety. I have no positives of any kind from Valdespolano I wonder if they can even tie their shoelaces right I say grab anyone from the street and stick them on 2nd base/1st base
Edmeister
I agree with everyone... I guess I need to clarify by saying that I am extremely proud of they way the have played this year. Especially taking into consideration everything that The Dontrelle said about having to work with a shitty manager, DL ace, and a horrible owner. To my displeasure of how the last few series have gone I completely forgot how well they did to avoid being in last place and actually give us a good chance. I know that it's still possible to get back up. 3 under with still a month left of ball to be played.
Guest Vince0926
I think generally with predictions that were made this year from "experts", were supposed to win anytime between 63-67 wins. We have 65 now and its not even september. However, the reason why this team has been so frustrating is the potential we collectively have that never really materialized. We were blessed to have played in such a weak league this year. I feel that 65-67 would have put us 12.5 back instead of 6.5 back. It really is crappy because a few wins give or take and we would even be right up there with the nationals. Gotta make imorovements at second base next year and shore up the rotation. I think jose comes back july if im not mistaken, but they need a big time pitcher too.
