pollythewog
We should really sign this guy!!! Oh wait Donovan Solano + Loria.. FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that Cuban second baseman Jose Fernandez has defected and is seeking a contract in MLB. Ben Badler of Baseball America reported Tuesday that Fernandez had gone missing from his team, with defection a distinct possibility, so the mystery is now solved. One of the top players in Cuba, the 26-year-old batted .326/.482/.456 during the 2013-14 season with Matanzas. He figures to generate a lot of interest once he's cleared to sign with a team. PS sorry for the new thread but couldn't resist with a name like his
Admin
Sign him! BTW There's no reason not to start new threads for each new topic. One thread for an entire offseason is not something I think works.

Undakai
Well, we could certainly use a better second baseman.
Entendu
I think the Marlins will make a real push for this guy if he's projected to be above average. And two Jose Fernandez's on this team would be funny. I hope one of them has a middle name.

The license plate on his car is JDF16 and I think his twitter or instagram also says JDF something.

wild blue
Ugh. What's funny is that I bet if you met Wild Card at a game or something and had no idea who he was, you'd like him because he's goofy. But why he knows about license plate numbers and stuff... that's beyond me. Maybe he really is behind this ebola crapola.

They haven't made a real push for any of these cuban guys and the payroll next year is only projected to be $60m
SongInTheAir
Just tell Loria that it's the same Jose Fernandez, but he learned to play 2B to avoid another arm injury while he rehabs. He doesn't seem to care about baseball, so tell him pitchers and position players actually sign completely different contracts because of work hours. They haven't made a real push for any of these cuban guys and the payroll next year is only projected to be $60m Well, I don't think any of these Cuban players really fit besides Abreu, who they made some kind of a push for. I think they're in a position right now where Cuban players are seen (correctly or incorrectly) as safer bets than before. Couple that with how close the team is to contending and the fact that Fernandez doesn't project to be a star (so shouldn't be as expensive), and I think you've got a situation in which the Marlins have a real shot. Heck, maybe a parental lock on his computer. Trust me... I try and keep him off of that laptop.. We have been together since 2008, the Cody Ross, Uggla and Cantu days.. And every year he tells me he will only be avid on here "during the off season because that's when all the trades go down" ... But every year, it's a load of crap! True fan I suppose.. Gotta love him. Hopefully Abreu will be a reality with such a low payroll. We missed out on him last year. We shall see.
SilverBullet
True fan I suppose.. Gotta love him. This is the only part where ur wrong... We don't gotta love him. Only you do. Ever since you said "I do" you're the one person on this planet who has to love him. The rest of us can despise him if we want. With that said, I think he's a pretty ok guy in my book.
