September 1, 201511 yr One man's trash is another man's treasure? Also,Ichiro probably isn't a whiny asshole.
September 1, 201511 yr Amazing that someone like Ichiro [apparently] likes being here, but someone like Baker hates it so much that he gets himself released. you think he HATED being here? Man i really wonder what he said.

September 1, 201511 yr What I can't seem to figure out is what would make a player feel negative about this organization??? this team went out and got a proven veteran in Casey McGehee. They could have stood pat and thrown in the white flag but, no, they added a PIECE. Did is this organization just stand and watch while Mike Redmond ran this ship into the ground? NOPE. They fired his ass and brought in a sound baseball mind. A guy that came in and with his training and experience, did everything he could to light a fire under this team. Baker must use have been sour grapes because the Marlins were giving AB's to Bour vs LHP. Everyone knows that you don't platoon position players based on numbers. You manage by FEEL.
September 1, 201511 yr You have no idea if he was trying to "poison" the locker room. Talking bad about the organization when it is an absolutely terrible organization from top to bottom is not ideal but put yourself in that position. After playing for a bunch of actual MLB teams and then going to the marlins, you would probably complain as well. Ah. So spreading negativity to other players on the team isn't poisoning the locker room? Gotchya. The fact is that he is a major-league baseball player who gets paid an exorbitant amount of money to hit a fucking ball. If I were in that position, I think I'd be pretty damn satisfied, and I certainly wouldn't badmouth the organization to young players on the team. And stop with this "actual MLB teams" nonsense. It's so hyperbolic it's not even funny. The fact is that the Marlins are a major-league franchise and have been mostly middle-of-the-pack for the last 10-15 years.
September 1, 201511 yr When does frisario break this news? Next year, on opening day. Wait for it, its gonna catch us for surprise!
September 1, 201511 yr Ah. So spreading negativity to other players on the team isn't poisoning the locker room? Gotchya. September 1, 201511 yr Amazing that someone like Ichiro [apparently] likes being here, but someone like Baker hates it so much that he gets himself released. Ichiro NEEDS a job more than Baker does. That and Ichiro is chasing 3000 hits and there isnt really any other organization looking to sign him up and give him some at bats to get it.
September 1, 201511 yr How much money to take la Russia out of retirement? Isn't La Russa the Prez of the Diamondbacks or some such?
September 1, 201511 yr Being upset and outwardly complaining about things with a factual basis is very different than purposely "poisoning" the locker room. If he was just openly complaining about, say, the Marlins hiring their GM as manager, would be very different than if he was, say, going to every young player and saying "This team is the shits, let's bash them on Twitter and see if we can get ourselves traded to a real team." I don't know which extent was the truth here but "poisoning" could be very different than what was really happening.
September 1, 201511 yr Ichiro NEEDS a job more than Baker does. That and Ichiro is chasing 3000 hits and there isnt really any other organization looking to sign him up and give him some at bats to get it. I suspect it's the exact opposite, actually. Ichiro doesn't strike me as being that desperate for 3000 hits. Also, it sounds like some teams were interested in him despite the bad year he's having.
September 1, 201511 yr Amazing that someone like Ichiro [apparently] likes being here, but someone like Baker hates it so much that he gets himself released. They probably kiss Ichiro's ass all day long.

Standings wise they have been middle of the pack. just about everywhere else we are the worst in baseball. thats not even debatable really. And stop with the paid millions excuse. He's well paid, yes, that doesnt make the marlins any better of an organization. Baker has played for lots of teams I'm sure he knows how the best teams treat their players compared to the marlins.

Also, it sounds like some teams were interested in him despite the bad year he's having. I think Ichiro badly wants the 3k hits. No other organization would give him those at bats really.
September 1, 201511 yr The closer Ichiro gets to 3,000 the more likely other teams would give him the ABs. Not every organization, but a lot would sign him just for the publicity of having him get 3,000 in their uniform.

September 3, 201511 yr why not? Tony LaRussa is a shitty manager who happened to luck into some loaded Cardinal teams. Watching him and seeing some of the dumb moves he made was just infuriating but during his tenure in St. Louis they were simply able to out-talent who they were playing in spite of LaRussa. He also doesn't believe in building from within and gets stubbornly attached to veteran players at the expense of talented youngsters.
