Shocked about Menechino because it wasnt like he was leaving and took this as a stipulation to stay (like, say Chuck Hernandez)... When Mattingly came on they said Menechino was negotiating his new contract, way before Bonds' name came into the fold. So its not like he wasn't staying if Bonds didn't come on board.
December 4, 201510 yr Yeah I also really love Brian Schneider as catching coach. Guy was a beast behind the plate. I also figured Stanton would be happy with Bonds coming on board. Probably the most qualified coaching staff we have ever had.

Not that the debate really matters because we're talking about hitting coaches, but why was Menechino pretty bad? I don't think many players have underachieved the past couple of years.
