April 5, 20168 yr Author Actually those dumpsters have too much depth. Is this better? Literally just trash, on fire:
April 5, 20168 yr I don't understand all the sh*t talking about the bullpen. Ramos is a damn good closer regardless of what people say. Jackson killed it in the bullpen last year even if he sucks as a starter now. Bryan Morris held our bullpen together at the end of 2014. And David Phelps is a solid long relief guy who can start when needed. The other guys I don't know what to expect since they're old and basically journeymen now, but this seriously isn't even close to the worst bullpen we've ever thrown out there. It's literally waaaaaaaaaay to early to sh*t on it and it really just makes everybody posting dumpsters look incredibly stupid.

April 6, 20168 yr Breslow vs. harper. Breslow vs. wright. Breslow vs. howard. Breslow vs. pence. Breslow vs. kemp. Breslow vs. story. Breslow vs. freeman......
April 6, 20168 yr Jackson looked really sharp last night but that's always kinda been his thing, he has good stuff, but he just falls off the wagon from time to time and has high pitch counts. McGowan is still going to be a "wait and see" player before I make any other judgment about him. He looked decent last night but even a blind but "even a blind a blind squirrel, etc." Phelps, I don't have much of a problem with either simply because he can spot start and eat up innings. He won't be lights out but he's a piece that most teams need to have in their arsenal. I know Ramos ended up with good numbers last year and I'll be mocked for this but I just don't like him. He had a really good stretch and then he seemingly lost his control and ability to locate his pitches at some point and always puts guys on although they rarely come home. He's one of those guys I just don't feel comfortable with, and haven't felt comfortable with protecting a lead, for awhile now. Morris and Breslow (and Dunn when he returns) can go take a long walk off a short pier. Sadly, at this point it looks like Jackson might be our best reliever so i'm sure they'll move him into the starting rotation at some point.
April 7, 20168 yr We have several guys in the minors that aren't world beaters but are probably better than them and at least have upside.
April 7, 20168 yr Projection systems are obviously not perfect and especially so when talking about something as volatile as RP prospects, but... ZiPS projected ERA Breslow: 4.11 Jackson: 4.39 McGowan: 4.47 Naverson: 4.62 = 4.40 ERA Wittgren: 3.62 Ege: 3.40 Ellington: 3.71 Barraclough: 3.69 = 3.61 ERA And we're paying Brewslow/McGowan/Naverson a combined 3.7m (or, in other words, roughly what it'd have taken to keep Alvarez). At least Jackson is only making the minimum

April 7, 20168 yr What article did I write bashing a Marlins player? (What article did I write, period?)
April 7, 20168 yr I'm gonna state again I'm surprised why Barraclough isn't on in the bullpen after what he did last year, small decline at the end nonwithstanding. Ege killed every level he pitched and Wittgren has been in need of a call up for a year. It's not that this team doesn't have the means to put together a decent bullpen...it's that they refuse to do so because the good bullpen guys are young. Mattingly would rather die with experience than take a chance on youth.

At least Jackson is only making the minimum I really hope Wittgren,Ellington,Ege and Barraclough all pitched in the major this year,so I could know their TRUE ERA.
