I get that it's a joke obviously but when we traded Martes he was a throw in and an 18 year old with a single Dominican Season under his belt. Absolutely nobody, not even the Astros who traded for him, knew what he was about to become. I don't blame the Marlins for that, just awful luck there.

 

 

Even Jarlin Garcia has future bullpen arm written all over him. We also have much better relievers in the system than Higgins, namely Barraclaugh, Ellington, Ege, and Wittgren. But once those guys all get the call up Higgins should see time in AAA. This is his third straight season in AA, which isn't a good sign at all.

KB, Ellington and Ege are all pen guys. Higgins gets guys out. He just needs to find more consistency. He could have made it to AAA last year with all our call ups and with success will likely be there this year.

Jupiter and Jax are great spots for pitchers to get outs. I like that Higgins doesn't walk people, but there's nothing about him that stands out yet and he was below average from 2013-2015 in what should've been spots for him to thrive. ERA's in the 4's as a minor league reliever don't bode well for major league success.

Not sure why you say garcia is a bullpen guy. Dude has 4 pitches and good control of all of them already. Needs to be a bit more confident in his stuff. If that happens there's not a thing against him being a 4-5 quality lefty
