Even when Phelps was good lefties still ripped him. Of course he got figured out. When he moved to the pen he was a surprise with the velo increase 4 seam and 2 seam combo. He's not mariano. He needs a curve to be successful. Also, the marlins not shifting on granderon was pretty stupid and very marlis-esque (anti analytics) 

 

First of all, it's a cutter, not a 4 seam. 2nd, go back and look at videos of him facing lefties early in the year. He mixed up the 2 seam front side, and he would paint the cutter on the outside back. That's what he tried to do to Reyes, but it started on the corner and worked over the plate. When it's 90 mph, that's meat. I seriously doubt Reyes was looking cutter.

I think you misread my post or misread it. I said increase velo on the 4 seam which is true. 

 

Watching video would be fun but I noticed about 2 months ago Phelps had trouble with lefties simply by the 700+ ops against. Voiced my concerns back then he has no business against lefties. 

 

I'm more mad about the lack of a shift on granderson really, especially when your pitchers primary pitch induces pull contact to lefties.

The .700 ops is because of walks, not because he's getting ripped. Which goes back to lack of command. They are only slugging .356.
