They'll want him to retire as a Yankee. Not happening.

Might be a good fit. All I know is that if they sign Alex Rodriguez to chase Babe Ruth's 714, I am done with the Marlins. no more season tickets. no more merchandise. They will be dead to me until Loria is gone

It would be weird having Bonds, Ichiro, and A-Rod all in the same dugout.

It would be a very Loria thing

You think both ARod and Teixeria at the same time??

I wish winning were Loria's thing instead.

Doubt it

Although I'm fully supportive of Ichiro being on the team and I like the way Bonds panned out. I went them back next season.

Ichiro has a 2 mil team option so unless he retires I am sure he will be back. He has made it known he wants to keep playing

Doubt it

That's Loria's wet dream fantasy though.

Does Ichiro have a wife and kids? I don't know much about his personal situation. It's kind of surprising that he wants to keep playing and not move back to Japan. I guess he likes the US that much?

He has a wife, no children.  His wife use to be on a tv station.  They have a home in the Seattle area.  Don't know about Japan.

OH, she is also Japanese

Read an article a couple weeks ago that Barry would like to come back as well. I think in general the coaching staff has done a pretty solid job.

I hope Barry comes back.

I hope Barry comes back.

he ended up being the best pick-up during last offseason

Well no A-Rod so maybe Tex? I doubted we'd get both anyway.

I still think Gomez is probably a more realistic option

He certainly is

He's also not much of an upgrade over Chris Johnson.

I just hate Gomez's attitude but maybe he's one of those players you like if he's on your team and hate otherwise.

If it's an outfield spot though, would you prefer Gomez or Ichiro though?  I'd rather just stick with Ichiro.  Gomez is only 30 and two years from some good seasons but he dropped off a cliff lately and apparently he's also an asshole.  And he doesn't seem to be the outfield wizard he used to be.  So he what, platoons with Ichiro?  We'd still have Johnson at 1b?  Ugh.

I hate clinging to defense but it really is our only team strength at the moment and I worry about shuffling fielders around and sacrificing defense just to get slightly less shitty offense.  Dunno, maybe he finds his swing again.  These are all pretty miserable options.

Ichiro has played well enough this season to deserve starting everyday. I'd take him as the starting RFer until the end of the season.

Same

But are we ok with having DD as our 4th OF? Plus Gomez speed would be nice off the bench if we get to the playoffs without Dee
