Your off-season shopping spree

Featured Replies

The way the off-season went for Cespedes it was almost a 100% certainty he was opting out. He absolutely did not get the deal he wanted and seeing that early opt out made it clear what his plan would be. I don't see how the Marlins could afford him though.

I think they try. Allows them to more easily deal an Ozuna for a SP

They can try and I'm sure they will but it's not a Marlins being cheap thing this time, it's that he'll have plenty of options with an even higher price tag than last year. I'm not sure how realistic it is even if Loria opens the wallet.

Whether or not we can actually get Cespedes or not, remembering him on the night of that Jose game and the day before when he hung the Mets Jose jersey in the dugout, from an emotional and community standpoint man he'd be a perfect fit here. I'm sure the players would love him here.

All these transplanted Mets fans down here would enjoy it too.

I doubt he has enough cash in his wallet, likely requires a trip to the bank.

Maybe he carries a checkbook in his wallet? Maybe Cespedes takes credit cards? Don't assume, Admin.

Cespedes would require his own parking garage too, didn't he come to ST with a new car every day or something?

I believe he rode in on a horse one day.  Seriously.

if Loria opens his wallet , all there's inside is his deep web password and bitcoin

How you know this? Did you try to pickpocket him?!

not yet ,but I assumed having such a thin wallet

How did you see his wallet?!

I need to watch my back around you.

No need.  No one wants your back.. or any other part of you for that matter..  :3_grin:

guys give up in the Gio thing. he was still a 3.0 WAR pitcher last year well worth the $15m or whatever the option is the nats have

I don't think anyone is serious about Gio, I think most expect the Nats to pick up his option. I think Gio as a Marlin is just a really good and not unrealistic dream.

Coworker today asked me if I think the Marlins could be any good next year. I said maybe but it's gonna be hard and even harder considering the player we lost in Jose. The guy tells me "Can't they just get another player like him?"

...the casual fan sees every beautiful thing the media displayed the week after his death but they may never truly understand the player Jose Fernandez was and what he could have become.

They need something more than shopping spree. Something more than money can buy. Something or someone that gives. Someone that gives a lot. I can't quite tell what that person gives. But I am hearing soft calls that you just have to accept what they give. It sounds like they are giving... giving... love, but I am not sure who it is.
