December 17, 20169 yr Ramos, Barraclough, Ziegler, Tazawa, McGowan, Phelps and Jose Urena break camp Unfortunately, if Urena isn't traded, he will break camp with Fish like Brad Hand did because he has zero options left. Leaves Cervenka (3 options), Wittgren (2 options), Ellington (2 options), Steckenrider, Lazo, Brice in AAA
December 17, 20169 yr Ramos, Capps, Barraclough, Ziegler, Phelps, Tazawa, Wittgren is damn good. Well done Mike Hill.
December 17, 20169 yr All kidding aside, it's quite possible we have the deepest pen in the big leagues, despite the lack of lefty. Nothing against him, but I still think it'd be a good idea to trade Ramos.
December 17, 20169 yr According to Samson they are happy with their bullpen and wont be making anymore moves in that department.
December 17, 20169 yr Author According to Samson they are happy with their bullpen and wont be making anymore moves in that department. Good to hear. I wish they would grab one of Fister/Nova/Hammel
December 17, 20169 yr okay, so I'm gonna throw out my two cents. I just want to hear your thoughts. Move Phelps to the starting rotation, add Neftali Feliz. Then literally all we have to do to be a good if not very good team is Hech has to be a major league average hitter.
December 17, 20169 yr We wont be good in 2017. Even if we add a frontline starter to the mix. My thoughts are that we are gearing up the bellpen to be an attractive landing spot for a few starting pitchers next winter. By than Luis Castillo should be in the starting rotation, we will know if Chens off year last year was a fluke and we will have a better ubderstandibg of who and what we are as our club sits.
December 17, 20169 yr Another crazy idea. How about a 4 man rotation next year? Move Koehler to the pen. Phelps/Koehler can alternate days to piggyback starters & have Tazawa/Barraclough/Ziegler/Ramos as the backend of the pen. Also could keep Koehler in the rotation and try the experiment with Locke. SP's on a 75-80 pitch limit instead of 100.

December 17, 20169 yr I still want either Feliz or blanton maybe cahill. Sent from my Samsung that's way better than squall's shitty phone

December 17, 20169 yr Isn't Locke essentially a guaranteed roster spot? He's at least one of those "pencilled in" guys. That's worth remembering for the bullpen because if they sign one more starter or someone like Nicolino or Urena steps up in spring training, Locke could get booted from the rotation and into the pen. It's a lot like Edwin Jackson's position last spring training where he was competing for a rotation spot but wasn't exactly gonna not make the team. So the last bullpen role is basically a battle between Locke, Urena, Wittgren, Ellington, and any potential late acquisitions. Sent from my ass using the award-winning Marlinsbaseball.com app

Sent from my ass using the award-winning Marlinsbaseball.com app I don't think they're doing anything else with the pitching honestly. They're going to add a right-handed bat and that's it.

December 19, 20169 yr Author Unfortunately, Urena is out of options and will most likely be the #7 bullpen pitcher on roster to start the season
