Blow The Whole Thing Up

Featured Replies

Let me preface this by saying....this is the opposite of a BOYCOTT THE TEAM thread.

BLOW IT UP

Full nuclear.

It's not working and it will benefit the team and the fans in 2-3 years.

Get rid of everyone not named Yelich, Stanton, Barraclough, Wittgren and maybe Realmuto (his ability to block and catch baseballs is awful at best).

The first to go?

Ozuna.  His value will never be higher.  Love watching the guy.  Hate to see him go but......

LAUNCH HIM TOMORROW

Launch Dee Gordon (and his laughable OPS) and Chen if anyone will take them.

Launch Ramos and Ziegler.  Hech has a decent batting average now so launch him, too.

TORCH THE HOUSE because I love my team and watching young, hungry-to-succeed guys while rebuilding for 2019 is way more fun than watching Adam Conley throw BP to the opposing pitcher.

At this pace we will lose 100 games with 2 guys in our order combining for 90 HR's

I would be down for this. You pretty much named all the guys we needed to keep for this.

Barraclough would be our next closer anyway. When Rojas does come back I would like to see what he can do for the rest of the year.

How is this different from the boycott thread?

Also, not sure about Barraclough being a closer, for what it's worth. Even though we should definitely trade Ramos regardless.

You might as well say Loria should just purchase the contracts of every allstar possible because it's just as likely to happen as him blowing up the roster of a team about to be sold.

Needs to be clarified here, who's doing the rebuilding? Loria and Hill or the next ownership. Because it won't and shouldn't be Loria and Hill. I agree it's time to take a step back and shake the roster up but it'd be best if the next owners are in charge of that.

I would do nothing until the new ownership is in place.  However, the season isn't even that old.  I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. Give them a little more time. The offense, defense, and bullpen are all average to above average.   It's really been the SP that has been terrible.

Anyway, With the exception of Ozuna you aren't going to get much in return for the rest of the guys you named.  You want to fire sale our garbage. That would just end up being a bonfire.  LOL You might get something of value for Ramos?  Maybe.

As far as Ozuna is concerned I would keep him and hopefully the new ownership can lock him up long term.  He improved last season and he has improved upon that this season.  He might not be a 1.000 OPS player like he is currently but I think he is a really good player and maybe even a budding superstar.  It would be nice to have a latin superstar in this market.

The only short term attempts at improving the rotation should be to give Urena more starts to see if he can finally be consistent and also to move Phelps to the rotation.  Koehler might actually thrive in the bullpen and Phelps can give us more consistency than Koehler in the rotaition. Besides, with Ellington , Wittgren, Streckenrider, Bearclaw , J. Garcia and Ramos we have enough arms to take care of the late innings for us.

Unfortunately we're stuck with Chen & Volquez for the duration of the season and possibly their contracts.  However, Jeff Locke has already made one rehab start so maybe he can be contribute soon.   I also hope Chen and Volquez can pitch better than they have so far when they come back from the DL.  Chen has made a couple of pretty good starts already this season.

This is obviously not a playoff team any one that thought that before the season started was fooling themselves.  If they can somehow shore up the SP they might be able to play .500 or close to .500.  I'll take that for this season.

getting rid of Realmuto would be beyond idiotic.  It's ridiculously hard to find a catcher that can actually throw runners out and not be atrocious with a bat and not be a lumbering oaf on the basepaths.  I'm not saying JT is Pudge or Molina in their primes, nor do I think he will ever ascend to those heights, but he's a good player at a position that's historically hard to fill.

I'm all for Urena joining the rotation and also moving Phelps into that role.  I'll be honest i'd completely forgotten about Locke but he's nothing special either.  I'm thrilled they're finally sending Conley back down too.  He needs to go work out whatever the hell happened to  him during the offseason and not be doing it against MLB bats.

The best thing to do would be dealing from a position of strength that is seemingly always in demand at the deadline (i.e. relief pitching).  Conveniently, relief pitching is usually the easiest to bolster during the offseason too so that might actually work in our favor this deadline if they jettison some of their good bp arms.

There's no way this could be a real question, Erick.

Im going to make a prediction and say that we end the season 12 games under .500

Dont get me wrong, hope we can get on a win streak. But I dont see that happening, horrible rotation, average offense, and now a few injuries = a losing record

Uh clear difference between boycotting a product and looking for ways to improve it in the long haul bub

So you're a better fan because you continue to financially support a miserable product with no future? We both agree that they're terrible and want nearly all of these players out of here.

He didn't once say to stop watching the team.

So the solution to this is to spend 3 hours every day watching a product that we all hate?

I don't know you bro, I have no idea if you're a better fan or DTrain is or I am. Look up the definition of boycott to see why the two concepts are different.

Why is calling for a boycott offensive when everybody hates this team? Seriously, does anybody like this team?

I don't hate watching this team even when they suck. Baseball is my favorite sport and the Marlins are my favorite team. I'd rather watch the Marlins lose than watch many other things because I enjoy it. Would I enjoy it more if they were consistently winning? Of course. But that doesn't mean I hate watching them when they're not.

I like this team. I want to see it improved because I like it.

If you want to get rid of like 90% of the team (which it seems like most people do at this time), you don't like this team. You like the franchise, not the team. THIS team stinks.

I don't mind watching them when they lose either. They've been losing for 14 years now. What sucks about it now is that they lose and have absolutely no future. There's nothing to watch. We've been watching the same cast of characters lose for several years now. It's not as if it's a developing team losing.

And is there anything worse than watching a hyped up bullpen blow big leads?

still doesn't mean i want to boycott them. i still watch the games anyway. you wanted to know how this idea is different than a boycott. we told you how.

K, cool. Don't say you like the team though. People usually don't want to get rid of things they like.

i like the marlins, i thought that's what you were asking. this current 25-man roster needs work but there are a few good players on it. also thanks for telling me what i can't and can say, real welcoming to the new guy around here. Helpful tips pal

I like the Marlins too. I just don't understand why it's offensive to boycott a losing product with no future. I think it's offensive that Loria doesn't give every Marlins fan at the ballpark tonight a refund. Why doesn't he leave already? Fuck him.
