got confused there with Indiana Jones 3 and was thinking "The Canyon of the Crescent Moon"

Honestly,if we really want to make a final month push for the playoffs then we need to replace Nico and Worley with anybody else we have, that two all have good games accidentally but have bad games normally…

add Ichiro and Jeter to the starting rotation

really need to sweep the Padres - time to start beating the teams they should be beating.  It's hard to believe that the Giants are 5 games worse than the Padres though.

Well they did that on the road, need to continue it though. Just need to win the series, don't need to sweep.

I beg to differ that they don't need to sweep.   They'll likely need a couple sweeps between now and the end of the season to stand a realistic shot - and those should be against the teams they should be beating. I know, sweeps are hard, but so will be getting to the WC game.

My client cares little about credit. Actually his credit is excellent. The best credit. Believe me.

Would be nice.

And it doesn't have to be an ace, it just has to be someone more reliable than Worley and Nicolino and you have to think there's plenty of guys who fit that description. Getting a WIld Card spot most likely is gonna be a difference of 2-3 games either way. Even a slight upgrade with the rotation could be what makes that happen.

It is SOOOOO fun, caring about the team and this website again!  Yay!!!!  :1_grinning:

Going a little far there but yeah. So much better than before.

Looking at the remaining schedule the Rockies and DBacks have, I'd be confident in predicting that 24-12 gets the Marlins in (23-13 might even do it), but very doubtful they can do it with their #4 and #5 starter rotation mess even with the very favorable schedule ahead of them. Don't think Chen can be counted on and Peters is an unknown. Hopefully one of them can provide serviceable starts. I'd rather turn every fifth game into a "piece it together bullpen game" than start either Nico or Worley unless Mattingly is far quicker to the trigger in pulling them at the first sign of trouble, which he hasn't been. If they go two innings, then give up a run in the third with multiple runners on base got to pull them right then.

In any event, what's clearly needed to keep us in is that Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna and Realmuto will continue to have to sustain their hot hitting, in particular the extra base thumping each are currently providing. Hopefully, Bour can contribute on that end once he returns. Our edge right now is that we're become more than a singles hitting team.

Yeah seems right now what is really going to keep us afloat is the offense continuing to produce and the bullpen filling in the gaps. Best pitchers right now are Urena and Strailiy. Conley has his moments but much better upside than Nicolino or Worley could ever have.

Hill should be checking the waiver wire to see what is out there, right now they just need to take one some salary more than anything.

Here's a question- who starts a wild card game? Or do we go with a bullpen game at this rate?

I would go with Urena. But have a quick hook. He'll step up.

Odds are you'd need to win games in the final days of the season so you couldn't prepare for it. It'd be whoever is next.

True but even so the strategy will be different since it's an all or nothing game. Eg. Relievers could be stretched.
