pollythewog
things don't usually go well for short starters...i'd be amazed if he can still suppress HRs in mlb
sdg210
But if he's that good and we don't have starters, wouldn't it be best to have him activated now to make sure he's on the playoff roster?

He's in the organization so he is playoff eligible. Remember the Royals player who made his MLB debut in the World Series.

pollythewog
the being a short pitcher thing is a real concern arm angle is a big deal with that...it's encouraging he's had such great success suppressing HR in the minors, but this aint the minors... Stroman and Berrios are both short but have far better stuff than peters and it took both of them quite a while to learn how to deal with big league hitting... i hope he does well of course, but not expecting much

SonOfJack
stroman is 5'8 So would he be the best in mlb history that was 5'9" or less?
pollythewog
So would he be the best in mlb history that was 5'9" or less? seems unlikely since pitchers were smaller back then...i can't find any though a quick google search
pollythewog
i thought berrios was 5'9 too...he's 6'
squall
Peters was listed as 5'10" in college and lost an inch in the minors. He probably left that inch inside of you.

JTRiddlesMom
Small but thick around, might make a difference in performance. I enjoyed this one.
pollythewog
peters curve ball is legit as fuck i was very impressed and I thought Ellis handled him beautifully... He should keep throwing that thing more than 50% of the time rich hill style. his fastball is probably below avg esp with him being so short (arm angle) and he has absolutely no change up.... but the curve is so good he could be a real 3/4 guy maybe if he uses that as his primary pitch rather than the FB (should be used to keep off balance)...I hope the marlins coaches see that
pollythewog
44 FBs, 36 curves (20!% swgstrk) last night.... I'd like to see those #s flipped
