Latest question is "should an image of a Marlin be included in the team logo?" Not sure how anyone can answer no to this one...

I voted 'yes', but it all depends on how they execute. I don't want it to be part of our font, like it was on the orange jerseys.

 

I would also like a real fucking Marlin, and not the weird futuristic thing we have now.

i dont mind the miami and it doesnt matter because its contractually mandated, but id love to see the new rebrand of the team (whenever we eventually do it) to combine the current "M" logo with the old fish logo.

It’s funny how they’ve devised this elaborate program to disguise the fact that the new owners are dying to change the uniform.  1993 boys.  Done and dusted.

Yea all of these uniform questions are very much "it depends" questions. I gotta believe they, or whoever is really in charge of designing the uniforms, know that.

I want an update not a straight up return to the old stuff. And I wouldn't be entirely opposed to something relatively new either. 

 

 

For whatever it's worth, which may literally be nothing, when a reporter asked Jeter if the 25th anniversary logo being mostly teal meant that he was willing to return to the mostly teal color scheme in the future, Jeter said the anniversary logo had nothing to do with that and was more of a representation of those early years than any type of clue towards a future rebrand.

 

I believe him in the sense that I doubt any concrete decisions about a future rebrand have been made yet.

Depends. Some accent colors are used more than others. I want it to be used sparingly.

I updated the post. Around the same, but it might actually stand out more since the 03-11 unis had the stripes and the glittery font, etc

 

 

Logos and wordmarks present differently on actual uniforms than they do in computer images like the creamer site.  While I prefer the 92-02 font, when looking at it side by side next to 03-11 two things stand out to me. 

 

The black pinstripes on the later set is too much for me.  The teal pinstripes on the earlier set made for a softer look.  In general I’m not big on pinstripes, so maybe the lightness of the teal is the reason I always made an exception for the early Marlins uniform

 

I prefer the outline on the early set.  It is flush up against the teal, whereas on the later version there is a gap.  Both font styles are superior to drop shadowing though. 

 

The black font would work much better if the outline was flush against the text and they eliminated the pinstripes.  Overall though these were both just fine.  The current ones are just fine.  But we know this is a thing that is happening so it is fun to talk about.

I’ve also attached an update to the previous cap logo I posted earlier in this thread.  It just adds the accenting and has a modified shading inside the letter which mirrors the spring training caps from previous seasons.  I know a lot of people aren’t a big fan of the fish outline on that hat.  Whether you keep it as is, or remove that element, I think retaining this style M going forward with the next design has a lot of merit.  This is the 7th season with it.  It’s the only MLB Miami Marlins cap logo.  Once you tone down the colors it becomes a stylish and simple.  This is a lot of what you see in popular and timeless cap designs.  If you think about it, designing a hat shouldn’t be that hard.

I have seen that same style M used on multiple buildings just in broward dade county as their logo. I think it needs a revision and I think they should really bring out the Marlin. Doing a little silhouette isn't enough IMO. I like Teal, black and gray, I just don't like the Pinstripes.

 

Honestly I never went back and looked at prior comparsions between 93-02 and the 03-11 sets but now I do see a definite change there. Loria must have really liked the color orange because he started that transition even before they became the Miami Marlins.

 

They could go another direction with colors if they want, but we are the Marlins and having more than a silhouette for a Marlin logo should be done.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!   They have always been the "Florida Marlins" in my heart.  Lots of teal and black too, please.

The days of the bright orange jerseys appear to be over for Miami. Previously, they were worn mostly on Sundays or day games, but they are not part of the club's color scheme for 2018. This season, the Marlins will be wearing either white or black jerseys at home. On the road, they will sport gray and black tops. Also, you may have noticed the logo on the hats, although the same, is slightly smaller this season.

 

At home, the black jerseys will be worn on Fridays and Saturdays. Away, the starting pitcher will decide between either gray or black.

 

What will the uniforms look like in 2019? Change is a possibility. The Marlins have their Dimelo, Spanish for "Talk to me," campaign, where they are asking fans for feedback. There has long been support for teal to make a comeback. At this point, nothing has been decided, or at least announced, regarding next year.

 

The bright orange was introduced by previous owner Jeffrey Loria, and the Marlins wore those color jerseys this Spring Training. That was because they had been ordered before the Bruce Sherman/Derek Jeter ownership group took over in early October.

Supposedly Loria's preference. Looking back orange was creeping into the color scheme way before the 2012 rebrand and as soon as Loria took over. I remember getting giveaways at the old stadium from around 2004-2011 and there was a lot of orange. I still have a duffel bag from around 07 that is all orange and black. There's even an all orange cowbell. It's laughably obviously looking back. 

 

 

I have a 97 WS ten year anniversary shirt giveaway that had the sleeve patch which featured orange.  At the time I thought it was some attempt at tying in the seat colors.  Clearly not the case
