April 15, 20197 yr Author Sorry but can anyone help me out with this... I believe its somewhere in this thread where it was posted that a Marlins team employee, a female, said that the new rebrand was mostly designed by MLB and that the Marlins just picked from the options presented to them. I'm trying to explain this to someone, anyone know where this was posted?

Not sure what other words to try.
April 15, 20197 yr Author So I just listened to the podcast with Elisa Padilla, the senior VP of marketing and community relations. Here are a few things she said: -worked with MLB -MLB did a color study on how to contemporize the look and feel of the team -MLB showed Marlins color concepts and they chose these -"Calle ocho en esquina caliente - "warm colors" Blue - very Miami, - red - hot red, colors are vibrant on the black -"electric energy" -new Marlin is "more athletic and powerful" -M script inspired by Latin American design and letters -"we live in these colors every day" in Miami -Font - came from research MLB did before presenting concepts -Artwork - wanted to be in every part of the community, artists didn't see the logo beforehand -Uniforms move us from a performance brand to a lifestyle brand that they hope people will think is "so cool, you'll wear it out anyway" --- -There's an announcement monday at Tropical park - part of a big initiative for the team........given she's the president of marketing and community relations, I think it's at the park I mentioned as a sort of community outreach, and nothing to do with Marlins Park - otherwise they'd have removed the sign altogether if something were close. ----- According to what she said, it sounds like MLB did all the work and the Marlins just chose from a few concepts. Found it myself. Thanks for your help @SonOfJack

April 18, 20197 yr Author The whole bunch is here and there are definitely some great ones https://www.hatclub.com/collections/miami-marlins?aff=72
April 18, 20197 yr Author That blue brim BP hat is real good. Hate to burst your bubble but that's not the BP logo, the BP logo doesn't have the baseball seams, that's actually the sleeve patch logo... and that's not blue, that's the old school teal. Also, I don't actually hate to burst your bubble, I actually enjoy it immensely.
April 18, 20197 yr Oh, in my writeup/report, I forgot to mention. From the outfield looking toward the infield, the NUMBERS on the Marlins' black jerseys were illegible.
April 18, 20197 yr Author Oh, in my writeup/report, I forgot to mention. From the outfield looking toward the infield, the NUMBERS on the Marlins' black jerseys were illegible. Yep and the numbers are the best part of that jersey. You can't read the numbers or the names or the wordmark on the front. That jersey looks great in person, like if you own one and wear it you'll get compliments, but it's a horrific disaster in actual game action.

That jersey looks great in person, like if you own one and wear it you'll get compliments, but it's a horrific disaster in actual game action. Comparing it to the Phillies, from the outfield, you couldn't read their names either just because it's small text for such a distance, but at least their numbers were very clear. They look good up close in direct light like you say, but on field, it's bad.
April 18, 20197 yr I really want to like a blue marlins hat but none of these do it for me. The fish+M logo looks best on a black hat IMO. The new hat is terrific. But whenever I start messing with changing background and primary vs secondary colors it doesn’t look as good as what they’re actually wearing. I have no problem with the white and grey. No question there are legibility issues with the black jersey. I feel like the best course of action for year two would be as follows: 1. Leave the hat the white and the grey as is. The players are accessorizing them great and colors exist. 2. Keep the design for the BP and secondary uniforms the same but swap the colors. So for BP stay with the Fish M outlined in white but put it on a black jersey. Maintain the black on black numbers. It’s batting practice. It’s not on tv and people don’t need to read it. It’s a sharp look off the rack. So don’t mess with it. Make the blue jersey the alternate. People love that color. We want to see it more. Keep the marlins script for the secondary jersey but outline it in white the way the M was outlined in white in the blue BP. This way we aren’t changing font colors or recoloring the marlin.
April 18, 20197 yr i don't why but the black jerseys kinda remind me of Mets jerseys https://www.mlbshop.com/Mens_Majestic_Black_New_York_Mets_Big_And_Tall_Pop_Fashion_V-Neck_Jersey/p-2329231?_s=ak1944mlb-connx&sku=7711700&utm_medium=cse

The actual old Mets black jerseys looked different.
April 18, 20197 yr These? At least they're legible. Yeah those. Great jersey IMO.
April 18, 20197 yr Author Yeah those. Great jersey IMO. Horrible jersey for the Mets though because they should never have used black. The Mets look so good in just blue and orange on gray or white, no black needed. With that said that jersey looks good because it has contrast, the white outline helps tremendously as opposed to the Marlins black jersey that has little to no contrast.
April 18, 20197 yr Author The sports logos board is tearing the Marlins a new one for how the black jerseys look in action. Can't say I disagree but man they're rough over there. "Worst jersey ever" level comments lol
