On a side note, Yamamoto should be have been 'Yams' and how the hell did 'Jarlin the Marlin' not make the cut? Plus I guess you can only get a nickname once you have been in the big leagues for at least a week as Diaz and Dugger have none.

Brigham doesn't have one either and he was in the majors last year. Technically they can all get one but the names are submitted in spring training and it kinda assumes who will or won't be on the 25man roster and it's weird because it's skewed towards opening day and its like they dont even think about later call ups. With that said I'm shocked they can't work up last minute changes for the updated roster. It's odd to have several guys on each team with their regular names when it can't take much to get them nicknames. It's just weird that the deadline is in the spring when this trash is in August. 

 

 

Some players do opt to just use their last name also. The boring players.

If they can create new jerseys immediately for guys that are called up, they can change the name on the back of these jerseys to a nickname (but they aren't).

Yes exactly which is weird. It really seems like its "if you didn't sign up for a nickname by the deadline in March then you dont get one" which is ridiculous.

I get if the guy was called up a day or two or even a week before (there may be some sort of approval process), but it's 2 weeks ahead.  They can do it.
