SilverBullet
So does he have to update his driver's license?
Michael
He's struck out once in 22 at bats. Last two springs, he'd have close to 20 in around 50 at bats.

Michael
Now this is an interesting development. It's a huge thing this time. If he's putting up those numbers while consistently getting bat on ball, it's much more exciting.
marlinsmaniac
If he somehow finally put it all together, that’s HUGE. I’m not gonna hold my breath just yet though.
Michael
If he somehow finally put it all together, that’s HUGE. I’m not gonna hold my breath just yet though. I wouldn't hold it either, because it's a very long season and you might lose too much oxygen and please don't do that.
TaiwanMarlins
It's really a dream come true if he's really different this time.

TaiwanMarlins
I'm Brinson now, really hope he would better than Yelich.
cornfield
ONE whiff this spring ... that's helpful ZERO walks ... that's a problem
Michael
Could just be having an aggressive approach at the plate and jumping on pitches early in the count. If this continues into the season, pitchers will have to start being more careful rather than going right at him and the walks will come.

If this continues into the season, pitchers will have to start being more careful rather than going right at him and the walks will come. Let’s see what happens when he starts seeing more offspeed pitches from better pitchers in the regular season.
Michael
Let’s see what happens when he starts seeing more offspeed pitches from better pitchers in the regular season. Sure, but the lower strikeout rate regardless is worth some excitement. He didn't do that last two springs.
Bret Hart
I feel like we hear this annually. I didn't read this article, but it's very familiar on this mood.
Photo-Realistic Billy
Let’s see what happens when he starts seeing more offspeed pitches from better pitchers in the regular season. Now I've paid keen attention to whether or not the fellers in the mound have been throwing the bendy stuff or not to ol' Brins. And I'll say, there appears to be a book on Brinson: Throw a breaking ball down and away. Not really revelatory stuff, but the it's a recipe we saw work against him in 2018-19. Well, they've gone to that book again this spring, maybe even to an excess as pitchers are trying to master the feel of their off-speed bits, and frankly Brinson had licked his thumb, maintained eye contact with the pitcher, and one-by-one ripped every page from that book. I'll go ahead and say it. I spect Brinson gonna have a heckuva good year in 2020.
TaiwanMarlins
He didn't do that last two springs. Yeah, it's just the point.
FishFan95
If Brinson is a different guy, then is he still Brinson? What if this new guy has a different name?
rmc523
I'm cautiously optimisitc. The strikeout numbers are definitely a positive sign, but as he's had great springs the last couple of years and then fallen on his face in the season. So I'm not buying into it until he can consistently do well in the majors.

rmc523
Again, though, the cut in strikeouts is something that wasn't there the last two springs. Yes I know. And I recognized that's a good sign. I'm just saying he's teased us before with good springs, so I'm in a "won't believe it until I see it" mode right now.

SilverBullet
Good idea but it's a little funny, reminds me of when I give instructions to kids who can't focus and I ask them to repeat the instructions back to me so that I know they understood them.
