Stop trying to play this guy against left handed pitching as if he’s some sort of lefty masher. He can’t hit anyone. Put the best players on the field and stop trying to validate the Yelich trade. We lost that trade, it is what it is. Play the best players.

They don’t need to him against all; they actually don’t need to play him at all. We’re in the middle of a playoff race; the guy has no business in any lineup, especially hitting 5th. He better be out of here when the Covid guys come back. If he goes on to be good for another team, good for him. He’s had enough chances here.
August 16, 20205 yr A career .182/.239/.291 CAREER slash line and he’s out there hitting 5th today. Oh yeah, and he’s 26 years old already, not exactly young for development purposes. It’s basically because we’re trying our best to say we didn’t get absolutely robbed in that Yelich trade when it’s clear we did. At this point, who cares about the Yelich deal? Play the guys who deserve to play and try to make the playoffs in this shortened season.

We have a team good enough to compete for a playoff spot considering the state of our division. Brinson isn’t a top 3 outfielder on the team. If he needs to play every day, maybe he can try out for the Pirates for the rest of the year. They’re probably interested in the 1st pick of the draft.

I’m not even trying to be mean, but this. Brinson seems like a nice, respectful guy, but can you imagine him in another market right now? He probably wouldn’t be playing baseball anymore. I can’t think of one thing he does well. Even his speed, he doesn’t use it too well. What’s his value to the team? I have no interest in watching him anymore. Maybe he’ll be better on another team, good for him. It’s not going to work out here. I’m tired of watching him dominate every Spring Training only to be basically the worst hitter ever when the real games begin. And he’s been hitting 5th or 6th a lot, it’s a reason why we’ve done better against right-handed pitching than left-handed pitching so far. Regarding the first part of this post, we don't have a minor league season in which to develop anyone, so not much other option really. Alternate site can only do so much. On the *current* team as it is constructed, Brinson may be (and I'm including Dickerson as being off the roster since he technically is at the moment). But that really only speaks to the rest of the outfielders, not him. Sierra has been the only one to warrant full time starts with his performance, so why he hasn't been, I don't know. Again, once the COVID guys are back, he's most likely gone anyways. With the current roster, as constructed, he should be getting at bats, if they're serious about him having a shot. This has not been a serious attempt to give him at bats in my opinion, this has been to see if he can handle a platoon role. His approach, which many seem to be ignoring, has been a lot better. Unless Villar becomes a high OBP guy, he should be used as a power bat with some speed. Without the full roster, the only way this team is successful is if Sierra continues to be hyper selective, and plays everyday. There is only so much Mattingly can do. This team is just not good without some more consistent bats in the lineup. I think it is a mistake to not ride Sierra, but I don't know what is going one behind the scenes. It is clear the organization has high hopes for him, and are treating him as if he is a top prospect. They are really doing there best to mold this new incarnation. I just wish they'd trust the approach all together.
