Only 5, this team is determined to not to acquire a proven closer no matter the cost.

Not sure the cost is the issue here.  It’s the bulk of players we have that need the roster space to develop.  It’s a sifting process.  Eventually the layers will peel down to a strong core within our system.

Wouldn’t you rather find a treasure hidden in you’re backyard or would you waste resources to find wealth that you may already have?

Maybe or maybe not.

Wether we do or don’t make the postseason, the chances of it will unlikely be because of the closer.

Now, if you reach the postseason it’s a difference maker IMO.

With this team making clear to develop the prospects and not willing to invest to win now, I would call the 2021 season a rebuilding year 4.

I won't say the 2020 season was a fluke or not, I would only say this team played better than the Nats, Mutts and Phillies through the first 60 games, you just would never know what would happen if 2020 is a 162 games season.

We are investing in this team to win now.   We past the “rebuilding” stage now it’s building on top of that.  Layers upon layers through the ranks. TB has done it, not sure why that’s hard to understand.

It's doesn't matter what you call it, the results will tell everything. If we have a winning 2021 season (it's just unlikely with current roster ) then of course you can call it a win -now team but if not then you would be speechless when people said it's a rebuilding team.

I’m not going to play the catch 22 game here.  I admire the passion you have but it’s bordline hysteria at times.

In life for me, it’s  best to see what you have and not look around at what others may have.  There you may find some wisdom in it all.

Not to mention, they could always try to acquire a closer if they are in contention. Urbina in 2003 for instance.

Many people don't think this team compete in the next season, not only me.

Of course they will compete.  Does that mean they will make the postseason?  Probably not. Im confident teams will not want to play against us and that’s good enough for me heading into the season.

We may have to acquire a catcher at the deadline.  Salvador Perez I’m hoping.

They didn't actually compete last season. It was a short season and everyone made the playoffs.

I see nothing wrong with what she said.

It sounds exactly like something Jeter would say.  In fact, Jeter probably had to sign off on that statement before it went out.

I really hope Anderson has an insane year and it costs the Marlins a ton of money.  It’s obvious to many fans that locking him up early is the smart play.

What specifically did Ng do wrong in her statement? I'm not trying to attack anyone's opinion, just wondering because I am struggling to see the problem with it.

She didn’t say anything horrible.  She just parroted the company line.

The Marlins are clearly not bankrolled like the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Cardinals etc etc etc.

I’m going to give them the Covid-19 benefit of the doubt......meaning......2021 was supposed to be the year when they should have been contenders for adding that one BIG missing piece (catcher comes to mind).

So let’s “wait to see” what 2022 brings.

I’m just praying that Anderson has a huge season and it costs the Marlins a ton of money because they were short sighted on locking him up.

I'd call it "Rebuild plan, phase 2".

We're past the teardown for prospects stage, but not at the "sign one key piece and we're set" stage.  We're at the see who sticks portion, which was hurt by last year's oddity.
