Monte Harrison 😡 Monte Harrison is playing in the wrong era for his style of Baseball. He probably would have done better in the late 80’s, early 90’s baseball. Back then you could hit .220 but if you hit 20+ HRs, you had an everyday job.  Case in point, there was a player in that time period named Rob Deer, who played in the 80’s and 90’s for Milwaukee and Detroit and a couple other teams.    In 1991 his stats were: .179 25 HR 64 RBI, 175 K  Actually, look at his career numbers: Led the majors in strikeouts 4 times in his career, but, he had a starting job for a lot of seasons. Monte could have probably got a starting job on a few teams back then. He still could in current day MLB, just not as easily, unless he starts getting on base more often.

May 5, 20215 yr The system was bound to take a hit with Rogers, Sixto, and Jazz all graduating. If some key guys step up, then the system could stay in the top 5 with some of the underrated guys like Burdick getting recognition.
May 5, 20215 yr Boy, Jesus Sanchez and Lewin Diaz have been hot out of the gate. If they keep it up we could trade some of the veterans at the deadline and potentially get even better! Edited May 5, 20215 yr by FishFan95

Marte is also a given to keep. Dickerson might have some trade value if he continues his hot start. Duvall won't have much trade value though, unfortunately. Cooper might have had the most trade value if he could hit like he did in 2019 and 2020. The slow start has killed that right now. Hopefully he gets hot soon. Our bullpen is where we will get the most value. If guys like Holloway, Bender, and Pop continue to grow into late inning roles, along with some of the other arms coming up, Yimi and Floro might bring back something nice. Especially at the deadline when bullpen help is at a premium. I think they are both still controllable which increases their value as well.

LOL Seriously, if we are clearly not in contention, we have to shop Floro, Yimi and even Curtiss. No pressure though if you don't get a great deal because even if we keep them, they're controllable. If we are in contention or near contention, we hold onto them. Us fans deserve another playoff run if it's within reach. Â

Agreed, and I think that a few of Scott, Misner, Burdick, McCambley, Fulton, Salas, Conine, Mesa, and even Banfield have a chance at cracking the top 100 with a good season.Â
May 6, 20215 yr Since we're talking prospects and farm system, what is the plan for this year's draft? More pitching, go for offense, try to get prospects at C 1B & 3B, or just do best player available? Edited May 6, 20215 yr by CyggyMarlin

Hold em while they're cheap! Depends on the offers, though. If we put them on the block and teams say, "we'll throw these guys to you" and they're worth it, then yeah, go for it.
May 7, 20215 yr I would hate to see the bullpen be replaced by depth next year and not get the highest value at the deadline. The depth is there and we should use it to our advantage with higher returns. This might shock some, but even if we are in contention, IMO, If the right trade manifested, you do it for players like Curtiss, Yimi, Cimber & Floro.  If you can get a super desperate offer for Halloway & Bender you do it IMO. You can move Elieser to the pen with Max, Garrett, Neidert & Cabrera.  We would still have nice pieces in the bullpen knowing that all of them wouldn’t be traded anyways. Management has shown the ability to find free agents like last year as well. Edited May 7, 20215 yr by FishFry
