I don't really want 3 "meh" type guys back which is what kepler, polanco, and another would be. Keep in mind this roster needs to cut down on whiffs and needs some high obp% and/or contact guys to give some balance. I would insist on Arraez at part of that deal.

No way we move 3 starting pitchers in one off season.  I wouldn't even move two of them.  We should be able to get a solid return for 1 of the SP's.  Then, depending on how much progress Eury, Dax , Eder and Sixto show this season,  we can move more SP next off season or even at the deadline. 

Also, and I know I'm in the minority on this, but Reynolds isn't worth the asking price.  He's not even in Juan Soto's stratosphere, and they are asking for a Juan Soto like return.  Fuck that!

Keplers actual stats don't reflect that he's preeeeeeeeeeeeetty good though and that's over a fair body of work.  If he's the main piece they get back for Pablo that's a shit trade imo - and i'm not even that big of a Pablo supporter.

How do you think that honestly helps the Marlins though? Not trying to be rude or anything I just don't see Kepler giving them any extra wins especially if Pablo is going the other way. I'd give DLC a chance again over moving Pablo for Kepler to see if his adjustments are going to continue to pay off.  I don't see DLC as turning in much worse of a season overall as an average Kepler type of season - certainly not if you factor in losing Pablo.  Arraez fits what what the lineup needs a LOT more than what Kepler provides.  If the Twins continue to balk at that...then eff 'em and move on elsewhere.

 

The IFA signing period starts in a few days.  I'm looking at where these guys have committed to sign and the Marlins aren't signing anyone in the top 30.  Even though we are allowed (with a couple other teams) to spend more money than most others teams, the only commitment is from the 33rd  ranked prospect.  A CF from the Bahamas.

Looks like we are back to our old cheap ways all around.  SMH

Eh, I would expect more for Lopez.

Kepler had one good season four years ago. Otherwise, he kind of stinks offensively (lifetime .232/.317/.427 slash line over seven seasons). Sometimes you are what you are regardless of what the peripherals say. We can look at peripherals all we want, but if the actual results don't reflect them for an extended period of time, it doesn't matter all that much.

Polanco is a decent hitter, but he is pretty bad defensively and is coming off of a really crappy year.

If Arraez isn't involved, Kim shouldn't want anything to do with the Twins.

Yeah trading Pablo for Kepler would just be making a trade for the sake of making a trade. Heck, Kepler's lifetime numbers aren't any better than Avisail's.

I'm still not going to rely on a rule change improving a guy who's been meh in his career to unload Pablo. It would be very much like trading just to trade.

That isn't going to change the fact that the guy doesn't walk. Again,, he's a lifetime .232/.417/.427 hitter. That isn't good, and I highly doubt the shift rule changes are going to suddenly turn him into a consistently productive hitter.

It's also a matter of trading Pablo. It's not like we would be taking a flier on Kepler.

Kepler's decent and probably better than most the bats we have [says more about our bats than anything].

Pirates are just raising the price and seeing if anyone meets it, and like has been said, they don't have to trade him just cause he wants to be traded.

Not relying on a new rule that hasn't been implemented yet in live games. Additionally, we've seen new "rules" only be loosely implemented by umps so I'd have to see how it plays out first - in other words - not betting on a guy who has been pretty meh his whole career outside of one year.

I'm pretty sure it'll be fairly obvious if there's three infielders on one side of the field.
