I came up with this in the understanding that Pablo is headed to Minnesota.  My thought process is:

1. Berry is interchangeable with Salas in the deal so let them pick.

2. DLC is way overvalued and Cabrera is undervalued in this machine for some reason. They pretty much balance IMO.

3. Oviedo is a #5 Sp and who knows, maybe Mel can work his magic.

4. With Pablo, Cabrera, and Roger's gone we need a SP back in one of the trades.  

5. The comp balance pick is just a sweetener.

It's really sad, if the ownership kept not spending big then the team would stuck in the cycle of trading pitching for the offense and trading hitters for the pitching.

That's how most teams work...trade from a strength to bolster a weakness.

Mish did a Twitter spaces last night because that moron Lion in Texas was spreading more lies about Pablo for Arraez being close but anyways in general he just reiterated that the Marlins are still pushing for moves, definitely pushing to trade SP, could still grab an additional free agent or two if it makes sense, and that they're more willing to trade whoever not named Sandy or Eury because they know moves need to be made and that they know someone has to go, so it's not like previous seasons where they were more insistent on hoarding everyone. 

Says he thinks Reynolds will be traded but that it's not a lock as the Pirates are doing what the Marlins first did with Realmuto and they're still ok with just keeping him anyways. A Reynolds trade isn't guaranteed. 

Says Wendle grades well defensively at shortstop and the Marlins might like Jazz better at 2B than at SS so for now that's what they seem to be thinking but that could change. Sounds to me like they're comfortable with Segura at any infield position so he might be the one to just play whatever is left after they decide on Jazz and Wendle.

He also says he hasn't heard anything about extension talks for Jazz.

Of course you can trade from a strength to bolster a weakness, but if you do too much then the strength would become a weakness.

Baseball wise I do not l understand the reluctance to play Jazz at his natural position.

So, that makes me consider non baseball reasons. Is it fair to think the team is trying to lower his value for future extension talks? Obviously elite 2bs make a lot less on the market than elite shortstops do. 
 

I want Jazz to get an extension and the more team friendly it is the better. But playing wise this makes no sense.

Mostly cause he did poorly at short and did rather well at second base. "Natural" position or not you need the better glove at short.

 

And I'm going to advocate moving him to center field until it happens.
