Yeah, it’s funny to see the Nashville Sounds(Brewers AAA team) roster. They have three former Marlins catchers: Payton Henry, Alex Jackson and Brian Navarreto, as well as Monte Harrison and Eddy Alvarez. 😂

I would like to see Gurriel play 5x a week. He’s hitting well this year and has a history of good hitting. The problem is you can’t have both Soler and Cooper DH, but they desperately need to get their best 8 bats + catcher out there, and right now Gurriel is one of them.

That shouldn’t even be a problem to get Soler, Yuli and Cooper in the lineup everyday, just have Soler play in the OF more often instead of Hampson and alternate with having Coop and Yuli play first base and DH with Soler at DH occasionally. With Avi and Jesus Sanchez out it should be no issue to have all three of them in the lineup everyday.

Probably could play another 1-2 years. I mean, if he’s a good presence in the clubhouse. Sometimes it’s good to have a veteran player like that around even as an old guy. Lenny Harris type. Although Yuli is still in good enough shape to play everyday. I would rather have Yuli as the veteran guy on the bench who eventually maybe moves to some role in the organization over Miguel Rojas.

Yeah, the Marlins have a good history of having former good and great MLB players on the team right before they retire. Guys like Placido Polanco, Luis Gonzalez, Aaron Boone, Ichiro, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines, Al Leiter (in 2005), Jeff Francouer, Curtis Granderson and some others.

Not all of them were necessarily clubhouse leaders or did really well when they played here as their careers were coming to an end. But still it's nice to have a real veteran presence and former batting title and WS winner like Yuli around after not having one of those type of players in 2020, 2021 and 2022. (Francisco Cervelli, Sandy Leon and Matt Joyce don't count.) 😂

Hahahaha. From what we've seen this year, only way Segura is not playing would be a trip to the IL (which I'm not wishing for, of course). Other than that even if he's batting .091 on the season (which sadly could be a real possibility with him) if he's healthy the Marlins are putting him out there. They ain't paying him millions of dollars to be a bench player. My best hope is that some other team wants him at the mid season trade time and the Marlins can get something useful like a low A catcher for 2025 season. 😂

Well, in 43 games he's batting .188 with 0 HR and 5 Rbi and still is an everyday starter. So Marlins seem pretty stubborn about keeping him out there no matter what.

Maybe, but that season was so short and he was injured most of it so wasn't long enough to make a huge difference even in the clubhouse. But definitely better than what they had in 2021 and 2022. Actually in 2022 they basically had no veteran presence at all. Miguel Rojas was the oldest player on the team and he was only 33!

Correction. Rojas was the oldest position player on the team.

Anthony Bass was 34 and Richard Bleier was 35. But those guys weren't leading anyone. Maybe just helping lead the Marlins to another losing season.

I think we all like his defense in the 3B, so just pray he would figure out something in the offense side ASAP.

Yea I don't know if this a "good" history. Sure plenty were good leaders and teachers but the majority were just unproductive players for us. 

I did notice Yuli quite animated in celebrating Coopers home run yesterday and that stood out to me. Marlins don't usually have that much energy lol.
