This is also why I said they'd be ok letting Soler go if they found a guy with the good contact, high obp% and speed profile (but low power numbers as a tradeoff). MLB makes it easier than ever to steal bases and what's the gameplan by our great GM and new coach? bring in two painfully slow guys at the deadline. one who was only a tiny bit over .300 obp and the other who was under .300obp. y'all can say we needed their power all you want but this lineup needed more athleticism, contact, and speed. meanwhile, Skip totally abandons the idea of stealing bases or even putting guys in motion which leads to a ridiculous amount of dps. once again, i'll go into the offseason hoping someone finally sees what needs to be done to fix this goddamn offense Yeah, I don't know why there's no effort to curtail DPs. We could use a solid, consistent doubles hitter too - for years, we've needed that in our park, yet they've not gotten it.

September 15, 20233 yr Yeah, we've gotten lucky that other teams have struggled too to still only be 1/2 game out. But on the flip side, we're not helping ourselves by taking advantage of their bad play.
September 15, 20233 yr Wild Card race is gonna be about which team sucks the least as each team is flawed. After the Braves series it wouldn't shock me if the Marlins go on a winning streak. So I think the key question is where our standing will be on Sunday night. If we go into next week within reach we still have a shot. Also, just maybe we're due for a couple stolen wins over the Braves who have already clinched, maybe a lucky break or two helps us out.

Does it then just go by intra-divisional records? For example, if the Marlins, Reds and Diamondbacks all end up tied, obviously, you can't just go by head-to-head because there are three teams, so are intra-divisional records the next step?

Yes intra divisional. If it's Marlins Reds DBacks I'm pretty sure Marlins get the spot. The giants are the only team we don't own the tiebreaker with though that could change.
