The marlins has the worst run differential ever for a playoff team. This was a pretty unique season folks and probably need to temper expectations into next year without significant upgrades

That kinda makes me happy considering how many people said we wouldn't get anywhere with a negative run differential. Sure this was an outlier and shouldn't be expected again but you still gotta play the games and run differential doesn't actually determine win loss record. Imagine if the team and the coaches gave up just because their run differential was shit.

It's definitely an outlier and likely hard to replicate two seasons in a row. As @pollythewog said we likely won't do as well in one run games next season. 

Also, weren't they just a little over .500 in one run games after that ridiculous start of being undefeated in them?

 

This team needs consistent offense and guys who can hit with some speed (home run power less important). 

I still think they can be better without Soler if they trade for the right player.

21-14 is after starting 12-0 in one run games is still quite good.

I don't understand your point?  The point still stands they are very unlikely to repeat their record in 1 run games next season. I did not say at any point they will be under .500 or anything but they're unlikely to do as well as they did this year (just like it was highly unlikely to replicate how awful they were in 1 run games the year before). 

 

Fish have some nice pen arms and if Scott can do it 2 years in a row then they're more than likely to be fine overall and be successful in the close games. 

 

Having Arraez in that lineup - how many of those one run games they lost from the prior season basically flipped this season because we had his competent bat in the lineup?  I know there's that whole pesky WAR stat out there but I firmly believe having Luis in there won us at LEAST a dozen more games than we would have otherwise.  Not saying stuff like walk-offs etc but just throughout the course of games, extending an inning, getting deeper into the power  guys, etc.

I'm making a statement that their 1-run record includes the "loss" to the Mets that should've been a win.  Nothing more.  His point of the record was tied to yours about the "x-record after the crazy start"

 

I agree it'll be difficult to repeat that next year - I'm sure we'll wind up in between last year's horrible and this year's amazing in the 1-run department.
