Fantastic. Wanted him more than Solar

Same. A couple options here now if Soler does not accept the QO if we even give him that. If he doesn't, then Bell to DH and Arraez to first. Alternately, Bell to DH, Arraez stays at second, Burger to first.

Not sure which I'd prefer, maybe Arraez to first and then Edwards at second. Burger held up fine at third base.

Then bring me Nasim Nunez to play short and let's actually RUN. Steal some bases, hit and run, all sorts of good stuff!!

.270 and 25-30 homers for a full year pace with the new hitting coach brant brown. he'll be the veteran leader. I know Arraez doesn't like DHing. And I don't think Arraez did anything particular to lose his spot at 2nd if that's his preferred spot over 1st base. Prefer to keep Bell at 1st. Either way our defense will be pretty bad again, maybe Edwards can play in the outfield (left maybe) if Arraez wants to stay at 2nd? So 1st-bell, 2nd-arraez, shortstop-whoever (maybe Dane?), 3rd-burger, LF-edwards, CF-jazz, RF-whoever (DLC? Sanchez? another?)

His pace with Brant Brown was higher than on Cleveland. 33 homer pace for the 50+games. He ended up hitting 22 total, so with a full season with Brant Brown I dont think 25-30 is unreasonable. It's also a contract year, maybe his last contract coming, so he will be motivated.

Anywho, if we decide to go more towards defense and ACTUALLY using our speed on the basepaths, give me an infield of

1B Arraez

2B Edwards

SS Nuñez

3B Burger

Bell will DH in this scenario.

Bat Nuñez 9th. If he can be even an 85 wRC+ bat, he'll be at least a 2 WAR player with his defensive abilities.

Of course if the team convinces Soler to come back, that removes this idea. But let's assume they don't get him back.

Call up Will Banfield to catch. If we're not going to get any offense from our catchers, I'd at least like to be able to throw out runners.

Figure out the corner outfield spots. Troy Johnston in LF? Sure why not.

Maybe when he sees this post and will have the opportunity to see @hovertical nudes that will motivate him further

Definitely a little shocked Josh exercised his player option here.

Probably a product of his depressed market last time he was a free agent, and a non stellar market for a guy who is not a good defender and can really only DH (more or less).

Still a bit surprising I feel.

Very surprising IMO. I was 99% certain he'd test the market.

Bell was great, but I didn’t know his defense graded out as so atrocious the last few years. He doesn’t hit enough for an ideal DH, but he’s a welcome piece on the team that scored the fewest runs in the NL.

By the way, I’d rather keep Arraez as 2nd baseman, where it’s harder to find quality bats. Find a way to get a 1st baseman who can hit, slide Bell to DH. Burger handled 3rd just fine eye-test wise, so I like him there.

With his stat cast, I think bell has shot to be a respectable .825 to .850 ops DH with 30-33 dongs which means we get to see @hovertical dong

Technically I didn't say the nudes were of me.... I just insinuated they were my property and y'all sickos instantly clamored for my dong shots

Unless they are in the playoff hunt they will probably trade Bell anyways at the deadline. So whatever plan they have for 1st base and DH will be fluid as the year unfolds. Unrelated but personally I loved Lewin because he was an amazing 1st baseman, I know he hit like shit, but a year with Brant Brown and I think he couldve been somewhat respectable. He showed flashes of power at times. Was really raw but I just think because of his defense I would've been more patient with his lack of hitting, as opposed to dumping him. 1st baseman who are ok hitters are given more chances even if they are horrible fielders, so I think a 1st baseman like Lewin who was an elite fielder warranted some time with a good hitting coach like Brant Brown before giving up on him.
