They were really playing Avi up on TV saying how hard the balls were hit.

I think his first one was 105 mph but everything else sub was sub 90 so mostly false news. He hasn’t elevated the ball once

Awful to watch.

I still have no idea why they put Puk #2. If it had to do with spring training timing, they should have anticipated that and changed it up.

I only saw one change up (looked awful) otherwise it was just 92 mph fastballs he couldn’t locate and his sweeper. Not sure how they think he’s a starter?

To a poverty team like Marlins, what the most unacceptable not the lack of pricey FA signings but the unwilling to cut tied with the pricey underperformed players.

Couldn't watch most of the opener while stuck at work and my elderly dad flew in for the first time in about 7 years so I was spending time with him instead watching the shit show yesterday. I likely won't see today's either because he's here and id rather not subject him to watching the trash Sherman has mandated be on the field.

This was the first time in as long as I can remember simply not caring one tiny bit about opening day either. I legit did not give a damn. I mean we had a team coming off playoffs with a back to back reigning batting champ, Lizard pitching with full seasons of Bell and Burger (no Avi in the opening day lineup) but the sheer lack of urgency or even simple "hey, let's just add some guys to patch over some weaknesses" killed my anticipation this season.

I am literally ranking this is as the worst offseason in Marlins history. Sure, we've seen fire sales before but there was literally NOTHING this entire offseason. We made the playoffs. Attendance was up. And then Sherman did absolutely NOTHING. Fuck that guy. I hope I keep feeling this way towards the team so I can finally fuck off from baseball altogether and put that time towards something more worthwhile.

Not improving the team in the off season after making the playoffs is a baseball crime. To me the berti trade was the final confirmation of their plans this year which is give daddy dix free rein to fire sale and rebuild. This team is DOA until 2027

yeah, the Berti trade solidified this season as a fuck you to anyone who has lived and died with this team.  I mean, it shouldn't - it's Jon Berti ffs BUT...he is so valuable to a team like Miami and they just jettisoned him off and left a likely negative WAR guy to replace him.  I know there are some folks on here that shit on Berti last year and in years prior but dude WAY overperformed year in and year out and he could play pretty much anywhere on the field.

In a nutshell, trading away someone like Berti shouldn't matter - but when you've literally done NOTHING all offseason to improve the team (especially when seeing our rotation dwindle throughout spring when significant guys were still available on short-term deals) it's kind of the straw, camel, etc.

I'm sure at some point the fish will go on a tiny hot streak and i'll be intrigued again but this is seriously the first time i just don't feel any sense of urgency to watch this team I've tuned in to see since 1993.  Yeah, I could email, post, etc. on their socials but they don't care.  I'm one person who isn't even able to attend games living all the way out here so why should they?  And again, Sherman is literally using the team as his personal ATM machine.  I can almost guarantee, Arraez, Lizard, Skip, Bell, and maybe even Jazz will all be gone by opening day this time next season - Avi won't though. Can't be paying 12mil to a guy who's not on the team and all that.

Oh well.  I hope I'm wrong and somehow this team just magically turns a corner and everyone comes alive on the board and there's a good buzz around the team all season.  It's only 2 games but we've seen the SAME ISSUES that were there last year, the year before, and year before that....and we've seen the new issues that somehow message board idiots could finger waggle at all spring long that were not addressed yet somehow our owner didn't step in to address either.

somehow he'll still be worse as the season progresses.

he somehow forgot how to elevate ANYTHING the moment he arrived here.  He was never that good of a player to begin with but we'd all have gladly taken his average season at any juncture during his time here.  He pounds that ball into the ground on almost every single at bat (if he isn't getting rung up by a clock violation that is).  It's awful.

I agree.  I’m already in “don’t care” mode.  They clearly didn’t care in the offseason and have a plan to likely blow it up again (the same old BS “sustainable” argument), why should I care?
