Soriano is really bad another very questionable move to even have him on the roster

People on the musksite were touting him as a breakout candidate before the season, and it always felt like they were just making things up? The guy is legitimately bad at baseball, and there have never been signs of anything different??

Especially since he never pitched for the Rays

Is he going to be any good, maybe not.  I'm not advocating one way or another.  However,  he was serviceable last year with 3.85 ERA and averaged 1 K  per inning.  He throws mid 90s and when his slider is working,  it's pretty effective.

Again, he may not succeed, however, I think it's a bit much to say he's bad at baseball and he's never shown anything different.

I had no problem with him breaking camp with the club.  Probably shouldn't have been used in high leverage so quickly.  Then again, our entire pen has been a shit show these first couple of weeks.

I mean, yeah, fair. He's not the worst pitcher in baseball, but he's a mop up guy who might start for a team approaching 100 losses at the end of the season. He had that decent 3.81 ERA last season, but 35% of the contact he allows is a hard hit and only 5% soft hit. He's kind of in that Jose Ureña mold where his stuff *looks* good on TV, but batters have no trouble seeing it and distinguishing what kind of pitch is coming. Throwing mid 90s is absolutely nothing now anyway, take a kid out of a good baseball high school and he's throwing with that same velocity. I may have exaggerated in saying that he's *bad* but he certainly isn't good and will never have the stuff to be a high leverage pitcher.

Yeah,  like I said,  I'm not saying he's good or going to be good. You may be absolutely correct. I just take exception with the whole "bad at baseball" comment.

You can be good at baseball and still not make at the ML level.  All of these guys are the best of the best where they're from. They just might not be elite enough for The Show.  There are a lot of good baseball players in other leagues around the world.

OK, I'll get off of my soapbox now.  LOL

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again, the Soriano, Cronin, sixto, bender rhp bullpen combo was as clear as sign as any that daddy dix had no intentions of fielding a winning team this year.

I wouldn't say he is bad at baseball.  He's kind of a poor man's Eddy.  Probably more of a AAAA guy than anything.  But he is still only 25 and he has been with the organization since 2016 and slowly worked his way up.  I'm sure I am not the only one with a soft spot for a home-grown guy who fought his way to the majors.

That being sad, he is not major league quality right now and should be in Jacksonville working on getting to that level.  Of course, I'd rather have a bunch of Soriano/Nardi/Maldonado-types, young and home grown, that these never will be 34 and 35 year olds that get trotted out because they once played soft toss with some Rays execs kids.  That is what is most maddening about this debacle.

It would have been a wild showdown with Soriano pitching to Hermida.
