June 4, 20242 yr https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/06/marlins-to-designate-avisail-garcia-for-assignment.html The Marlins are designating veteran outfielder Avisail Garcia for assignment, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. The 32-year-old Garcia (33 next week) is in the third season of a four-year, $53MM contract that has proven to be a substantial misstep for the organization. Never thought it would happen!!

June 5, 20242 yr LOL, Jeter is beloved by the Yankees but he's just a dumb jock. Look me in the eye Jeets. GTFO. Avi is easily in my three least favorite Marlins of all time. Never looked like he cared a lick.
June 8, 20242 yr Wow.. can’t believe I missed this. It’s what I and many others have been asking for a long time. Glad to see it finally happen. Again nothing against home as a person. I’m sure he’s a fine fella and fun to have around at cookouts and such. But as a baseball player was pretty much useless his entire Marlins career and just a waste of space holding up and blocking other Marlins players in AA/AAA from getting a chance. That was funny about Jeter looking him in the eye.. it was like Jeter is about to offer him $53 million contract and wanted to look him in the eye to ask if he was committed. What do you think Avi was going to say “no I’m not really that commited. I just want the money.” 😂

They could DFA him though once the list expires instead of bringing him back, though as you said it seems like a dick move right after bereavement.

He's getting paid what $5M this year to be terrible? He can wipe up the tears with the $100 bills he'll be collecting to do nothing.
