Probably for the next few years.. seems like for the foreseeable future it will be like this: Marlins don’t make the playoffs every year.. Dodgers and/or Yankees make the WS every year. Every offseason we see new record contracts from big market teams signing all the best free agents and giving them contracts they don’t deserve. Just wait and see Vlad Guerrero Jr get a 20 year 1 Billion dollar contract when he’s a free agent soon. 😂Yeah.. crazy to think back to the simpler times of like Rich and Tommy.. FSN Florida fantasy auction.. was only like 2009.. but feels like could have been 25 years ago with how much Baseball has been changing lately. 😂Anyways.. end of ranting!Agreed on all of this. Rich and Tommy at least made the losing fun.I just don’t care anymore, and am glad I haven’t invested much time or money into the team over the last year and a half aside from being here. There’s no incentive as a fan to continue on with the endless rebuild with no horizon in sight……and it’s tough to see any sort of vision when moves like this happen with a controllable player, especially on the bat side where we have nothing as-is…

This is similar to the Trevor Rogers trade in that his perceived value was much higher than his actual value.1) Echedry Vargas is a potential star and should be in the top 10 prospect list soon. The return of him alone would have been worth it.2) Adding Acosta and Mendoza makes this a really lopsided return. Both have a lot of upside as well.3) We just improved our defense since Burger was probably one of the worst fielders in the league.4) This opens up playing time for DeLosSantos and Agustin Ramirez at first and DH.5) This is the kind of trade that will take some time to see the results of the return but is yet another Bendix masterclass. He absolutely ripped off the Rangers with this one.“Similar to Roger’s trade” = LOL

December 11, 20241 yr Excited to see Vargas, Acosta, and Mendoza in the minor league system. We are committing to long-term sustainability and getting lots of pieces for the future.Low risk, high reward.

December 11, 20241 yr Good news is it clears a spot for Augustin Ramirez at 1b whose ceiling is…. Jake burger #s

December 11, 20241 yr This only makes sense if you trust Deyvison De Los Santos’s bat to produce right away at the Big League level. And I do not….
December 11, 20241 yr Also, it make no sense to trade him after a season when his numbers were hampered by injury in the 1st half.

He absolutely ripped off the Rangers with this one.I actually agree that Bendix has done a good job of aquiring undervalued prospects so it will be interesting to see if Vargas continues to perform better than scouts are currently ranking him. There may be some upside in the others as well, but we won’t know until a few years when we will all forget this conversation.Burger would have been primarily been a DH going forward, so his defensive liabilities would be less of a concern. He was also hurt last year in the 1st half. If he is healthy and primarily a DH, I do think he could have been a 3 win player for us next year. Potentially with upside for more.As for making room for our prospects, Ramirez already had a spot if you start him at catcher. If you are commited to him an De Los Santos at 1B/DH, then what happens with Jonah Bride? And who starts at C? Either way, I am excited by Ramirez, but not convinced on De Los Santos to hit Big League pitching. Edited December 11, 20241 yr by FishFan95

Agustin is going to play some catcher as well but likely Joe Mack will be the primary catcher for the foreseeable future soon. Ignoffo is a guy who really intrigues me as well. Jonah Bride is probably not in the long-term plans although he is a useful at bat.

He does one thing well and everything else below average.I like him too but the return far exceeds his future projection. And no I don’t work for Daddy Dix but if he is hiring I’m all ears. I live about 2500 miles away. You are correct about Marlin Maniac though. Weirdest takes.
