Agreed on all of this. Rich and Tommy at least made the losing fun.

I just don’t care anymore, and am glad I haven’t invested much time or money into the team over the last year and a half aside from being here.

There’s no incentive as a fan to continue on with the endless rebuild with no horizon in sight……and it’s tough to see any sort of vision when moves like this happen with a controllable player, especially on the bat side where we have nothing as-is…

This only makes sense if you trust Deyvison De Los Santos’s bat to produce right away at the Big League level. And I do not….

Also, it make no sense to trade him after a season when his numbers were hampered by injury in the 1st half.

I actually agree that Bendix has done a good job of aquiring undervalued prospects so it will be interesting to see if Vargas continues to perform better than scouts are currently ranking him. There may be some upside in the others as well, but we won’t know until a few years when we will all forget this conversation.

Burger would have been primarily been a DH going forward, so his defensive liabilities would be less of a concern. He was also hurt last year in the 1st half. If he is healthy and primarily a DH, I do think he could have been a 3 win player for us next year. Potentially with upside for more.

As for making room for our prospects, Ramirez already had a spot if you start him at catcher. If you are commited to him an De Los Santos at 1B/DH, then what happens with Jonah Bride? And who starts at C? Either way, I am excited by Ramirez, but not convinced on De Los Santos to hit Big League pitching.

Good post. Agustin is going to play some catcher as well but likely Joe Mack will be the primary catcher for the foreseeable future soon. Ignoffo is a guy who really intrigues me as well.

Jonah Bride is probably not in the long-term plans although he is a useful at bat.

I’m kind of questioning if you’ve ever even seen him play. Burger doesn’t walk, Burger doesn’t field, Burger doesn’t steal. He does one thing well and everything else below average.

I like him too but the return far exceeds his future projection.

And no I don’t work for Daddy Dix but if he is hiring I’m all ears. I live about 2500 miles away.
