Burger Traded to Rangers

I’m kind of questioning if you’ve ever even seen him play. Burger doesn’t walk, Burger doesn’t field, Burger doesn’t steal. He does one thing well and everything else below average.

I like him too but the return far exceeds his future projection.

And no I don’t work for Daddy Dix but if he is hiring I’m all ears. I live about 2500 miles away.

You are correct about Marlin Maniac though. Weirdest takes.

I love burger and love to root for him as a player. Burger was also playing injured for half of last year.

perhaps it’s the right move and the more I dig into the return it’s not so terrible, but it’s exhausting when your favorite players are always shipping out for 19 year olds. It’s also just further confirmation this team won’t be competitive before 2027 which isn’t particularly fun as a fan

Agree on the frustration but it is necessary. We are building the team the right way and putting in the infrastructure for sustained success. The model works but it takes some time.

We should be moderately competitive with our pitching but the division is absolutely loaded.

The results won’t be immediate and I’d even go drastically further than the Marlins and Bendix are and play all the kids all the time.

It is hard to be a Marlin fan and often it isn’t fun but we need to buckle up because watching these kids grow into stars and watching this team grow into a contender and champion is going to be one wild ride.

Good post. Agustin is going to play some catcher as well but likely Joe Mack will be the primary catcher for the foreseeable future soon. Ignoffo is a guy who really intrigues me as well.

Jonah Bride is probably not in the long-term plans although he is a useful at bat.

Going with Ramirez as C for 2025 as a stop gap until Mack is ready makes sense to me.

I see Jonah Bride as a similar guy as Joey Wendle was for the Rays from 2018-2021. Just the unheralded guy who was value playing multiple positions and hit pretty well. Too bad Wendle dropped off as soon as he got to Miami, though. I can see the Marlins squeezing every bit of value out of Bride as they can the next couple of years.

Banfield might make a few appearances as well. He strikes out a ton and his hot tool is weak but he’s pretty decent defensively and has a little pop.

Fortes

Agustin

Banfield

Mack

and whatever journeyman catcher we have or acquire is at least an improvement on the abomination we have had behind the plate the last two years when it was historically bad.

Who do you think are going to be stars of the position players? X I guess? Most of these guys Bendix traded for have fleas of some sort. I’m sure one or two will work out but I don’t see star potential in any of them except deyvison who has a massive hole in his swing. Even dix 2024 draft isn’t looking great albeit very small sample size.

Sandy and lizard are gone by July assuming they’re healthy which turns a 90 loss team into a 100 loss team.

I trust dix to find some good pen arms.

Dire times for marlins fans with very little root for

We’ve been trying to “build the team the right way” for the last 20 years….6 if you want to be generous and go back to just Bruce’s tenure….it’s not worked. I’m just tired of the kicking the can/goalpost down the road every year.

Random movie reference, but it reminds me of one of the last scenes in the movie The Patriot where British General Cornwallis’ army is on his heels and he uses the line (paraphrasing, but it’s close) “things will change, things must change”. Well….it hasn’t yet, why have any faith now?

Had a feeling they would trade Burger. Was just expecting a MUCH better return than this.

It’s almost like Bendix doesn’t know how to determine value in a trade unless it’s the trade deadline. This and the Arraez trade were both disasters.

To be fair, the Marlins haven’t been competitive for most of the last 15 years, so waiting an extra three years isn’t the worst thing in the world lol

Defense is a big part of the game and it was very hard to watch the Marlins square pegs in round holes approach to defense the last couple of years (Burger, Arraez, Jazz). Good to see that this is being addressed.

How much equity stake in blog do you get for the 20 years of service?

“Marlins have hired TheMarlinsProject as Director of Positive Posting.

He is expected to work alongside the Marlins front office to put a positive spin on the Marlins organizational moves on forums and other social media outlets.”

No stocks, but I get an extra warning before I get banned. Perks of having a seat at the table if you catch my drift.

J Sanchez is a 0.7 WAR 0 .2 points higher than Burger’s 0.5 last year. Using the WAR stat is misleading on why they should have traded Burger.
