Burger’s been traded to the Rangers.

Entire trade.

This franchise is cursed.

This ownership is literally the fucking worst we’ve ever had. And that’s remarkable.

Marlins lost their first or second draft spot while trading their best hitter in less than 24 hours for future parts/players. Smells fishy if you ask me.

@pollythewog Looks like I’ll be wrong on a .500 or better record next season now that there’s no meat (Burger) in the line up.

How many big trades/signings has this ownership wasted now? They wasted a high pick on Jacob Berry. The Gallen/Jazz trade (this one is arguable, but I won’t blame them here, they tried). Threw away JJ Bleday, Luis Arraez, and now Jake Burger. I don’t care if its been different GMs. Same damn owner and team.

Maybe MLB is our GM.

We trade Arraez while not damaging the Padres farm system at all. Then we trade Burger for basically the same no harm to the Rangers farm of course. It’s just a matter of time before they give Luzardo to the Yankees in a 5 player package none being in the top 10.

Trading Burger is the equivalence of going to college only to work at Burger King after graduation.

Solid for a trade you need to get out of but bad for the points you just mentioned.

Trading Josh Bell was like the equivalent of going to trade school to be a mechanic only to work at Taco Bell after graduation.

Looks like I picked a good time to stop being an avid Marlins fan and baseball fan in general. Probably for the next few years.. seems like for the foreseeable future it will be like this: Marlins don’t make the playoffs every year.. Dodgers and/or Yankees make the WS every year. Every offseason we see new record contracts from big market teams signing all the best free agents and giving them contracts they don’t deserve. Just wait and see Vlad Guerrero Jr get a 20 year 1 Billion dollar contract when he’s a free agent soon. 😂

Yeah.. crazy to think back to the simpler times of like Rich and Tommy.. FSN Florida fantasy auction.. was only like 2009.. but feels like could have been 25 years ago with how much Baseball has been changing lately. 😂

Yeah, this is what’s so pathetic. I thought they would keep Burger because of his contract status. But this trade essentially says they don’t plan to compete in 2025 for sure, and arguably another year or three after that.

Hearing Sherman/Bendix this talk about sustainability makes me want to become a climate change denier.

Didn’t think Burger would be shipped out but great frigging trade on multiple levels here. This is similar to the Trevor Rogers trade in that his perceived value was much higher than his actual value.

1) Echedry Vargas is a potential star and should be in the top 10 prospect list soon. The return of him alone would have been worth it.

2) Adding Acosta and Mendoza makes this a really lopsided return. Both have a lot of upside as well.

3) We just improved our defense since Burger was probably one of the worst fielders in the league.

4) This opens up playing time for DeLosSantos and Agustin Ramirez at first and DH.

5) This is the kind of trade that will take some time to see the results of the return but is yet another Bendix masterclass. He absolutely ripped off the Rangers with this one.
