Eh, it is if your patience is hanging on by a thread lol.

If you’ve made it this far, you have the patience of a saint. You know you’ll be here in 2027 when the Marlins trade the next set of rising stars lol

Yeah, this is what’s so pathetic. I thought they would keep Burger because of his contract status. But this trade essentially says they don’t plan to compete in 2025 for sure, and arguably another year or three after that.

Hearing Sherman/Bendix this talk about sustainability makes me want to become a climate change denier.

I’m actually perfectly fine with trading Burger because I don’t think he’s all that great anyway, but yeah I would have figured that if you were trading a guy with a ton of team control, you would get a decent return.

So I don’t have a problem with the Marlins trading Burger. It’s the lazy return that’s the issue for me.

J Sanchez is a 0.7 WAR 0 .2 points higher than Burger’s 0.5 last year. Using the WAR stat is misleading on why they should have traded Burger.

Burger had a 143WRC+ in the 2nd half when he was fully healthy

Agree on the frustration but it is necessary. We are building the team the right way and putting in the infrastructure for sustained success. The model works but it takes some time.

We should be moderately competitive with our pitching but the division is absolutely loaded.

The results won’t be immediate and I’d even go drastically further than the Marlins and Bendix are and play all the kids all the time.

It is hard to be a Marlin fan and often it isn’t fun but we need to buckle up because watching these kids grow into stars and watching this team grow into a contender and champion is going to be one wild ride.

How do you know the model works? Because if it's the Rays model, no thank you.

Their plan hasn't won them a championship, and it hasn't help them build or sustain a fan base.

Looking forward to your mental gymnastics when they trade Eury, Sandy and Luzardo this season for guys 5 years away.

LOL

The same Rays that have won 90, 96, 40 (COVID year), 100, 86, 99, and 80 games the last six years in the toughest division in baseball. With 5 consecutive playoff appearances and a World Series appearance during that time.

Despite 8 pitchers on the IL (sound familiar) and the horrific bad luck of he who shall not be named trying to ruin the franchise.

They are a fantastic model to copy and you and I and every Marlin fan would walk through fire for those results. But ours is better it just takes time.

Their on-field product isn’t why they don’t have a fan base. You know that.

I’d be pretty upset if they traded Eury this season. Sandy not so much, we should have traded him two years ago at peak value. Luzardo would depend on the return.

Everyone has a value and if the return far exceeds the value then you take it. Especially with pitchers who drop like flies these days.

True….but as it continues, I’m less and less interested…..I used to watch every game even when they were bad. Last year, I watched 0 games. I’m not going to spend my time watching garbage year in and year out.

Said it before - a defining moment for this franchise was Loria not selling to the Mas brothers.

Yeah, no kidding…..they’ve pumped a ton of money into Inter Miami payroll, which while on a different scale vs. baseball, I think they’d have taken the same approach in trying to win and spending money.

I mean, come on. At some point you need to just suck it up, go for it and take the losses fighting like a man. You can’t keep “Rebuilding” a fucking sand castle hoping you can live in it one day and be happy. You got shit materials Bendix/Sherman. Cut your fucking losses and go for it, or sell the team to someone who can atleast buy a player off the scrap heap.

These fucking guys are like mechanics that go to a junk yard, find the most dilapidated parts and ask for a scratch and dent discount.

What about when there’s a track record of questionable trade timing and return? See Arraez and Burger. Can’t just keep trading players and expecting fans to be excited and optimistic. Pessimism is warranted, sometimes.

Reminds me of that phrase made famous by a YouTuber (referring to Disney’s/Marvel’s actions): Don't ask questions, just consume product and then get excited for next product. “

One absolutely obnoxious thing about Bendix is he only speaks in milquetoast platitudes and never actually said anything. He’s really so terrible about at public speaking

Milquetoast with a punchable face. What a combo.

Also:

“The Marlins have less than $40 million in payroll commitments next season. Asked when the team will begin spending money, Bendix said: “It’s hard to have a specific answer”…Bendix wouldn’t rule out signing a free agent”

Holy fudge

Bendix also has a goofy habit of taking max value (lol) and rounding it on multiple players. It wouldn’t surprise me if he enjoyed the 7th pick in the lottery instead of the 1st because straight value that’s identifiable is to boring.

“A” free agent - meaning a $2-5M dude like last year and pretend that they’re doing things.

Bendix does speak in word salads and it is frustrating. “Asked how he can make the lineup better, he said: “We have a lot of good hitters, guys we might not have seen last year that we may this year. We’re looking at external additions. We have a lot of internal talent.””

Reading between lines they ain’t signing a single FA this off season. Makes sense as goal is to lose 100 games
