Now the Marlins have the sons of 3 former Marlins on their roster in the same season.

Weathers, Conine and Quantrill.

I wonder if they lead the majors in players who father’s also played in the same team?

Not teams who have sons of former major leaguer but specifically players who play on a team whose dads also played on that same team in the past. 😂

But actually come to think of it, the Marlins probably will have the most sons of former mlb players on the same roster just in general for 2025 especially if Nick Gordon gets called up then they will have 4 overall players whose dads used to be major leaguers.

I’ve noticed lately the past few seasons that the Marlins always find a way to lead the league in some obscure useless stat. I bet this year it will be that. 😂

Quantrill has very little upside so don’t really see it as such. Rather, the team has no SPs after trading lizard for a 18 year utility IF while knowing Braxton out for year. They also plan on trading Sandy so they need innings.

there is extremely low chance they trade cal at deadline because cal is not a good pitcher

You never know. Their vet signings the last few years have been abysmal failures (even ones that looked like they'd at least be ok on paper), so this could follow that path, but at least it's an attempt at something.

I’m not sure they had a choice. Without Cal, they’d basically be running a minimum of 2 bullpen games an every 5 starts until eury back. They don’t want rush their minor league guys and they also don’t want to win games so Cal is perfect for accomplishing both objectives.

Now it’s looking like 1 bullpen game every 5 until someone gets injured and which dix finds some former DFAd Ray to give up 6 runs a game in to start.

Maybe Quantrill won't suck? He was pretty good in '20-22, sucked in '23 (injured? only made 19 starts) and pitched at Coors last year. A 4.98 ERA pitching for the Rockies is like a 3.50 most everywhere else. Perhaps he'll turn it around and be a flippable piece at the deadline.

(Nah, he'll suck balls and everything y'all are saying will be true. 169 losses.)

I mean they didn't really have a choice the last few years either and still didn't sign anyone noteworthy, and we've seen the inevitable results.

The offseason in St. Louis has been an utter diaster and grand embarassment. They have literally dont nothing other than goto arbituration hearings with some of their more important players because they are literally CHEAP. Bravo.

They should have signed Kyle Gibson, but that would have required at least 8 million dollars and probably a bit more coming off a rather solid season in St. Louis.

The biggest issue with Quantrill last year had zero to do with Coors, plus they have the humidor which mitigates a lot of the problems with homers. Its the sheer size of the outfield that is the larger issue.

Anyway, the larger problem with Quantrill last year was the free passes he issued, which again, has zero to do with Coors.
