Marlins Marketing
i couldn't agree more! I'm all for womens night. i think there should actually be a striper night. :] (but thats a different type of womens marketing) anyway. what about like, marlins tarp-blankets, sponsored by the weather channel... that would be funny... i also think they should be giving away free tickets, it doesn't cost them anything and even if they're not making money on parking and concession, at least they're in the stadium rooting for the marlins, which is more than the orange seats are doing...

HAHHAHA someone doesn't like Admin........
:lol I saw this awhile ago, never found out who made it. Admin's an evil bastard, no doubt. But what kind of money does he make from this? I mean, doesn't he have a normal job outside of this? If an accountant looked at the money this site has cost to keep running vs the money this site has taken in since it started they would probably ask me if I'm an idiot. I'm not a webmaster nor have I ever been one, but it seems you could make enough money to cover MB.com maintenance costs by selling just a tiny bit of ad/pixel space with the amount of traffic this place gets. I am probably wrong, but I'd thought I'd throw that out there. seriously Admin, throw up google adsense, its only like a 468 x 80 anner size at most and u could generate some dough... i've got it for my website

The Crocodile Hunter is dead
wow...wikipedia is amazing... Stephen Robert "Steve" Irwin (22 February 1962 – 4 September 2006) in Melbourne, Australia was the owner and manager of the Australia Zoo at Beerwah, Queensland, Australia. He was best known as The Crocodile Hunter, which was the name of the unconventional nature documentary series on television he hosted, assisted by his American-born wife, Terri Irwin. His larger-than-life persona and seemingly outrageous antics (including the close handling of both common and rare species of wildlife and, perhaps most famously, the capture of live crocodiles and other reptiles on-screen) were key features in the presentation, which provided a forum for educational information about wildlife conservation and conflicts with humans in various parts of the world. The program made the Irwins television personalities on several continents. Contents [hide] 1 Biography 1.1 Death [*]2 Trivia [*]3 References [*]4 External links // Biography Born in Essendon, a suburb of Melbourne, Steve Irwin moved with his parents as a child to Queensland. His parents, Bob and Lyn, ran the small Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park, where Steve grew up around crocodiles and other reptiles. He became a crocodile trapper, removing crocodiles from near populated areas, performing the service for free with the quid pro quo that he kept them for the park. As a child, he had a negative encounter with a macaw, which throughout his life left him with a fear of parrots. In 1991, he took over the running of the park, now renamed the "Australia Zoo", and in 1992 met (at the park) and married Terri. The footage, shot by John Stainton, of their crocodile-trapping honeymoon became the first episode of The Crocodile Hunter, which became wildly successful in America. In 2001, Steve appeared in a cameo role in the Eddie Murphy film Dr. Dolittle 2. In 2002, his first feature film, The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, was released. In general, reviews of this film were negative. However, in 2003, Irwin was reportedly in line to host a chat show on Australian network television. The Irwins have two children: a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin (born 24 July 1998), and a son, Robert (Bob) Clarence Irwin (born 1 December 2003). Their dog, Sui, from which their daughter's middle name was derived, died in June 2004. Under Steve's expansive leadership, the operations have grown to include the zoo, the television series, The Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation, and International Crocodile Rescue. Improvements to his Australia Zoo include the Animal Planet Crocoseum, the rainforest aviary, and Tiger Temple. Major controversy arose during a public show on 2 January 2004, when Irwin carried his infant son, Bob, in one arm while feeding a chicken carcass to a crocodile with the other hand. The infant was close to the crocodile, and comparisons were made in the press with Michael Jackson's dangling of his son outside a German apartment window. In addition, child welfare groups, animal rights groups, and many of Irwin's television viewers criticised his actions as being irresponsible and tantamount to child abuse. Irwin claimed that any danger to his son was only a perceived danger and that he was in complete control of the situation, and has consistently refused to apologize for his actions despite considerable public outcry both in Australia and abroad. His defenders pointed to his several decades of hands-on experience and direct interaction with crocodiles. Terri Irwin claimed that their child was in no more real danger than a child being taught to swim would be. No charges were filed (although the police did visit Irwin at his home and advised him not to repeat the incident). Irwin went on to star in other Animal Planet documentaries, including The Croc Files, The Crocodile Hunter Diaries, and New Breed Vets. In June 2004, Irwin again was the subject of controversy when allegations were made that he came too close to and disturbed some wildlife (namely whales, seals and penguins) while filming a documentary in Antarctica. Interacting with Antarctic wildlife in a disapproved manner may be a breach of Australian federal and international laws. Subsequently, the matter was closed without charges being filed. Animal Planet then released a Crocodile Hunter special called "Crocodiles & Controversy", which attempted to explain both the "Baby Bob Incident" and the Antarctica incident. This special argues that Irwin's son was never in danger of being eaten by the crocodile and that Irwin could not have endangered animals in Antarctica. Animal Planet ended the The Crocodile Hunter with a series finale entitled "Steve's Last Adventure". The last Crocodile Hunter documentary went for three emotional hours with footage of Steve's across-the-world adventure, visiting locations like the Himalayas, the Yangtze River, Borneo, and the Kruger National Park. Steve feeding a crocodile at Australia Zoo. In January 2006 as part of Australia Week celebrations in the USA, Steve appeared at the Pauley Pavilion, UCLA Los Angeles, California. During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Steve announced that Discovery Kids will be developing a show for his daughter, Bindi Sue.[1] The show, Jungle Girl, was tipped to be similar to The Wiggles movies, with songs that surround a story. A feature-length episode of Australian kids TV show The Wiggles entitled "Wiggly Safari" appears dedicated to Steve, and he features in it heavily with his wife and daughter. The show includes the song "Crocodile Hunter, Big Steve Irwin". On Saturday June 24, 2006, one of the oldest turtles living in Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, died of heart failure. The turtle, Harriet, was 176 years old and was considered part of Irwin's family. Harriet was thought to have belonged to Charles Darwin. Steve Irwin was active in politics and was a supporter of the conservative Liberal Party of Australia. In particular, he strongly supported the incumbent Prime Minister John Howard. Death On September 4, 2006 shortly after 11:00 AM local time, Irwin was killed in a marine accident while filming an underwater documentary in the Batt Reef off the Low Isles near Port Douglas, north of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It is believed that a stingray barb penetrated his chest causing a fatal wound, though this has yet to be confirmed by Australian officials.[2]

Wow I've never seen someone so against sports..
http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com Any adult involved in sports 'is an idiot' Dennis Thompsett Editorial - Thursday, August 31, 2006 @ 08:00 Owen Sound is a sports town. Dissing sports here is like dissing the Queen - or maybe worse. But I'm not going to let that stop me. Because, here's the thing: I hate sports. To be painfully honest, I think that anyone who is involved in sports as an adult is an idiot. And anyone who pays to watch these adults play, even more so. When we were kids, I lived at the end of 5th Avenue, up on the east hill. We occasionally played baseball out on the road in summer and hockey without skates in winter. The road ended right in front of our house. We were never interrupted by cars, so it was a perfect place to play. But we were kids then. When we got over 10, we never played again. That's the way it should be. Unless you're 10 years old, all sports are foolish. Professional sports are the worst. Here we have an entire industry of steroid-enhanced mutants playing children's games and an even larger flock of rabid fans who slavishly pay big money, that they can ill afford, to watch them do it. var gnEbMinZIndex = 10000; var gfEbInIframe = false; var gEbBAd = new Object(); gEbBAd.nFlightID = 142568; gEbBAd.nWidth = 300; gEbBAd.nHeight = 250; gEbBAd.nDownloadMode = 3; //Interactions var gEbInteractions='['+escape('_eyeblaster')+','+escape('http://network.realmedia.com/RealMedia/ads/click_lx.ads/Osprey-Media/ron/roc/ss/[PAGE]/643045381/x18/247Canada/2006-488-MicrosoftSQL-Wired-Box/2006-488-Wired-Box.html/34343132333838353434656362643530?')+','+']'; var gstrEbRandnum = new String(Math.random()); gstrEbRandnum = gstrEbRandnum.substring(gstrEbRandnum.indexOf(".")+1 , gstrEbRandnum.length); gEbBAd.strNonSupported = "http://bs.serving-sys.com/BurstingPipe/NonSupportedBanner.asp?FlightID=142568&Page=&PluID=0&Width=300&Height=250&Pos=" + gstrEbRandnum + "&ebSiteClick="+escape('http://network.realmedia.com/RealMedia/ads/click_lx.ads/Osprey-Media/ron/roc/ss/[PAGE]/643045381/x18/247Canada/2006-488-MicrosoftSQL-Wired-Box/2006-488-Wired-Box.html/34343132333838353434656362643530?'); What would it cost to take your son and go to Toronto to see a professional baseball or hockey game? We're talking gas and parking and tickets and a couple of hot dogs and pop. Could you do it for less than $200? I think not. Are you nuts? Or maybe you get some sports channels on cable or, perish the thought, buy a couple of pay-per-view events. How much does that set you back? Think of it: All that, to watch a game best played for fun by the under-10 set. We used to play Hide and Seek and Tag, too. Would you pay $200 to watch a game of tag? Or the world series of Hide and Seek? Get a grip. You've been hornswoggled. Most sports started out in exclusive private boarding schools as a way to drain the energy of rambunctious boys. These games continued, much like tennis, as an amusement for the idle rich and the aristocracy. And today, over 100 years later, nothing much has changed. Sports remains the province of the idle rich. Rich guys own the teams. They're sort of like toys to them. So you spend your valuable time and money to watch rich guys play with their toys. Not only that, but you usually pay to build the stadium where the rich guys play. As they take your money, they're laughing at you. And here's the real joke. You know how those Eastern European hockey players or those South American baseball players make all those millions? Well, imagine how much the rich team owner makes in order to pay them that much? Well, he makes it all from you, the loyal fan. And when you run around with the team jersey or the team hat or the team bumper sticker, you are paying through the nose to advertise for that very same rich guy. What's with you, anyway? Let's face it: The old argument about sports building character simply isn't true. If recent news is any indication, what it develops is the urge to cheat in school and in your sport. It develops illegal drug use. It develops aggression, the need to win at any cost, and God knows what else. And these are our heroes? Good sportsmanship nowadays means you win, because you were "gooder" than the other guys. If you lose, of course, then you head butt. You throw your racket. You trash your locker room. You cry like a baby. The foundation of sports used to always be: "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." But if that's true, why do they bother keeping score? Dennis Thompsett's column appears Tuesdays and Thursdays.
