Did I add that those are my 2008 predicitions?

A.J. Burnett's quote about this
The problem I have with this is that he has signed with the Blue Jays. He troubled our locker room and coaching staff enough last year, we dont need him cursing our new player's abilities and questioning FO moves while having a Blue Jays jersey on. YOUR NORTH OF THE BORDER NOW BUDDY, STAY THERE!!!

What we're replacing
Reading the above posts, it just hit me. WHACK!!! Most of us are all depressed about dismantling a 2005 team that only won 83 GAMES. Some of us on this site are giving the Fish a decent shot of winning 75-80 games this year anyway. Loria just decided that 50 million dollars wasn't worth 5-10 wins. Hermida- .304 27 97 Cabrera- .311 36 118 Jacobs- .293 28 91

Pierre still on the block??
http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/baseball/13348166.htm The Rangers were told that it would take catcher Gerald Laird, infielder Ian Kinsler and minor league pitcher Eric Hurley to get Pierre. Juan Pierre, CF (Rangers, Yankees, Cubs) - Monday's Dallas Morning News quoted baseball sources as saying Texas is a frontrunner to acquire the Marlins' leadoff hitter. The cost, sources say, will be the Rangers' top pitching prospects. Both John Danks and Thomas Diamond are among Baseball America's top 100 prospects.

Probably Lugo and not Pierre Very easily could be. if thats the case, then Hello Texas Rangers (and the other 10 teams or so) The cubs might be adding Milton Bradley...I read something about their interest in him earlier.

ESPN Hot Stove: Dontrelle Willis Should Be Traded
Willis to devil rays for Kazmir, Young, Gomes and Hamels? I'd do it

ESPN Hot Stove: Dontrelle Willis Should Be Traded
I would trade Dontrelle before Miguel.... Im sure at least 1 of the numerous pitching prospects that we currently have can match Dontrelle's early career numbers, but Miguel Cabrera IS OUR FRANCHISE PLAYER I'm not sure, obviously under normal conditions both are untouchable, but then Willis pitches you are guaranteed to get people in the stadium. Without Josh Beckett and AJ Burnett (geez, I still can't believe they let TWO canon arms leave!) it will be suicide to trade Willis. The question is, is suicide in Loria's mind. The difference....Miguel Cabrera has the potential to play 162 games, Dontrelle has the potential to play in 35...

Willingham to work with Girardi on catching
Is Willingham still eligible for Rookie of the Year?
-
Coaching Fodder...
Don Baylor would love to join Joe Girardi's coaching staff, but the two sides haven't discussed any opportunities in detail. "Really, I haven't talked to him about that in depth," said Baylor, the former Rockies and Cubs manager. "I just thought it would be a real good fit, knowing the league and being able to help Joe. The [coaches] he has right now are not very experienced guys." Infield/first base coach Perry Hill is a veteran, but Rick Kranitz (pitching) and Bobby Meacham (third base) are newcomers to their respective positions at the major-league level. Baylor managed Girardi for three seasons in Colorado (1993-95) and in 2002 with the Cubs, and they remain close friends. Girardi also interviewed minor league hitting coordinator John Mallee for the hitting coach job. For his bench coach, Girardi wants former Yankees teammate Tino Martinez. The Marlins are pushing for someone with experience. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...-sports-marlins

Who's Next?????
How about Easley? Easley and Conine probably have the same feeling in that they like playing for Florida, and wouldn't mind coming back, but they are in the twilight of their careers and just want playing time coupled with a competitive team...
