nate bump
Nate Bump sucks at home (and with fans like mafatumatt, who wouldn't?). The short infield grass and large outfield ground is trouble for sinkerball pitchers. Simple as that. 560215 Carl Pavano seems to do pretty well -- don't you think? You Bump fanboys have nothing to back up your faith in him (blaming the grass? give me a f'ing break). He's an awful pitcher -- starting or relieving. Simple as that. 8 ER for Bump today. Nice to know he steps up when the club needs him. :plain 560266 Carl Pavano gives up more groundballs than flyballs, most pitchers even strikeout and noted 'flyball pitchers' do. The league average is 1.3 groundballs to 1 flyball. Bump and other sinkerballers give up a rate 2 to 1 or greater. Why do you think Beckett, Burnett and Penny didn't give up many homers, or why Derrek Lee and Mike Lowell hit s few homers at home, or why Pierre, Castillo, Pudge's groundball hits found the outfield grass more often at home. It's the park. 560284 You've got to be kidding me. you're trying to blame one of the most friendly pitching parks for Nate Bumps struggles? Nice logic -- talk about grasping for straws. Try looking at things logically, and you'll find yourself looking that much less foolish.

If you could have ONE former Marlin back?
Choi was above-average offensively and defensively at his position and had the third highest OPS on the team, all in his first chance at a full-time gig. If he could do that, I'd love to wait for him to realize his potential. 557999 He's one of the worst offensive 1B in baseball. Does he have potential? Sure, but so did Russell Branyan at one point. Until he learns to hit major league pitching on a CONSISTENT BASIS, that's all he has to offer, potential.

If you could have ONE former Marlin back?
http://tsn.ca/mlb/teams/player_bio.asp?pla...261&hubName=MIN 13-Dec-99: Selected by Florida Marlins from Houston Astros in Rule 5 major league draft. Then, Florida Marlins traded Johan Santana with cash to the Minnesota Twins for Jard Camp.

Another good one: Joe Strong.

Tejera claimed by Texas?
Don't know if this was already posted.... http://www.palmbeachpost.com/marlins/conte...notes_0911.html The Marlins sent left-hander Tommy Phelps to Class AAA Albuquerque and outfielder Chip Ambres to Class AA Carolina. Left-hander Michael Tejera was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers.

weathers in, koch out!
Koch needs more time...heck he needs time at all....Y'all haters need to stop because your boy Bump sucks worse then Koch ever did...and don't give me this since his call-up crap because the reason he got sent down was because he sucked. 548221 Bump is a whole lot better than Koch. 548239 Koch: 3.51 ERA Bump: 4.57 ERA :teach

weathers in, koch out!
Koch needs to go, we never put him in and when we do, he gets pounded. Great Addition. 548216 Koch has a 3.51 ERA as a Marlin...I wish Manzanillo and Bump got "pounded" as hard as he does. :lol

manzanillo
Manzanillo has 11.57 ERA in August and 7.82 ERA in July. Not only does he NOT deserve any playing time, he doesn't deserve to have a major league uniform on right now. The only thing keeping his stats half-way respectable is the 0.87 ERA he put up in June...and every time he takes the mound he's proving more and more that June was just a fluke. If anyone should be getting more playing time, It's Koch like some have mentioned. He had a 1.50 ERA in July and a 3.18 ERA in August -- I think McKeon doesn't trust him because he's wild, but he has gotten the job done.
-
For the Perisho haters....
He's far from great, but for what he has he's done an admirable job. I'm not a Perisho hater or supporter, but I don't think he's that good. a decent lefty specialist.

No more positive fluff
Lo Duca will be back...They made the mistake of letting an all star catcher get away last year, they won't make the same mistake twice -- and Loria has put himself in a corner by saying that Lo Duca will be back, he can't afford to go back on his word.

What woulld the Cubs or Giants
If we're gonna trade Benz, we should do it in the offseason, not now. 528554 Um...He's a free agent after this year...can't trade a player you don't have under contract. I think it would be a smart move to move Armando honestly...his value is at an all time high with the stats hes put up this season. If they're not going to re-sign him, might as well get something for him. that being said, I doubt he clears waivers. 528556 umm...If i remember right, they traded Encarnacion in the off season, which was a free agent, and Redman, so i dont know... :mischief2 528697 Enc and Redman were arbitration eligible...not free agents.

What woulld the Cubs or Giants
RedSox desperately need a real closer.... 528552 Keith Foulke? He struggled early on, but has been gold lately. 1.84 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a .194 BA against...they'll be fine.

OMGNUNEZ just hit a grand salami off Jamie Moyer
Encarnacion and Nunez's stats since the trade: Encarnacion: .230 BA, 0 HR, 3 RBI .305 OBP .297 SLG Nunez: .282 BA, 3 HR, 16 RBI, .322 OBP .435 SLG That being said...I think this is one of those change of scenery scenerioes. He needed a new start...McKeon didnt like him and he didn't like McKeon. I wish they would've given him a shot out of spring training when his confidence was high, but that's the downfall of having Jack as manager. We'll see how good he becomes...that deal could look pretty awful in a couple of years if he developes into a 30-30 guy though. :plain

All but mathematically eliminated...
You're assuming that they win 5 of 6 or even sweep both series...has this team shown capable of doing that? I hope to god they prove me wrong....but.... :plain

All but mathematically eliminated...
After losing two of three to the Giants, we're now seven games back of the wild card. Meaning if the Cubs go .500 the rest of the way (which is being optimistic, chances are they do much better than that) Florida would have to go 27-9 the rest of the way. Call me a nonbeliever if you wish, but I just don't see this happening. That being said, I'm still going to root for the fish to no end -- just not going to give my hopes up over something that's not likely to happen.

Tough Loss
Bad outing by Mota. I can understand Seanez not be able to throw a strike after the intentional walk, but I think after being one of most abused relievers the past two years Mota may finally be wearing down. 526694 I don't think that's the case...he just made a mistake. He was throwing 96-98 MPH tonight, but made a predictable pitch to Feliz and got way too much of the plate for an 0-2 pitch. Unfortunatley for us, Feliz crushed his mistake.

Tough Loss
man, seanez was pouring out sweat...did u see his hat? completely soaked in his own sweat....i felt bad for him, if i was jack i would have put in perisho for pierzynski... even if all u hate perisho, he's good against lefty's...usually....or benitez, either way, after the 2-0 count, i would have pulled Seanez. 526795 If Perisho walks Pierzynski in everyone on this board and their mothers would be all over Jack... Benitez should have been warmed up and ready once two men were on, Period. Jack probably hoped to get another inning out of Seanez, pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 10th and have Armando start the 11th, but in a game like this you have to get out of that jam with Armando, and either let him bat and pitch an extra inning or bring in Koch(who has been improving his consistency, i just think Jack doesn't trust him)

Tough Loss
BAAAAAD game... There are some bright spots though. We can still win the series tom. Mike L. has a 10 game hitting streak, Pierre is getting great jumps, the offense isnt a problem anymore. 526656 There's no positives in a loss like this at this stage in the season....it hurts and it hurts bad.
