A little high on Hughes? Every list has Hughes around 5-15. I don't see them as being particularly high on him at all.

Memento is in my top 5-10 movies of all-time. Great movie. Nolan is such an amazing director. "Now, where was I?" I don't get why the third act is the 'prestige', but this looks like a winner! The prestige in magic is supposed to be the after effect of the trick. The "WTF HOW DID HE DO THAT?" after its over. Didnt explain that very well in the trailer.

I read the book and I thought it was average. Christian Bale though is far and away my favorite actor, and with Nolan directing, this should be a very good movie. From a writing aspect, yes it was average. The writing never blew me away. But the story had enough twists and turns to make it a very good book in my opinion. I also hated the whole Andrew Westley/Twin Telepathy aspect. Really uninteresting, and in the end it was pretty pointless.

I read the book this movie is based on after finding out Nolan would be directing an adaptation of it last year. If this thing is anywhere near as good as the book this will be a very, very good film.

A lot CAN happen between 17 and major league stardom, right. But that's what makes him a prospect. He is a 17 year old dominating the SAL. Take a look back, the lists aren't always right. Todd Van Poppel and Brien Taylor were #1 prospects in the early 90's. Remember Nigel Wilson? Tabata is a prospect as well and they say he has a lot of potential. Thats all it means. Hey, I never claimed the lists are always right. Believe me the Yankees have had more than their share of busts. Even think back to less than 5 years ago with Drew Henson and the DRays savior Josh Hamilton. Where did I say he was going to be a star? I just said he had HUGE potential. Which he does. A 17 year old dominating players that are on average 3 years older than him? That's fantastic. And he has ALL of the tools to be a superstar. That's it. Judging overall potential is incredibly subjective and not even that meaningful, so looking at players who are performing at the levels that matter in the minors (AA in particular) makes more sense. Jason Stokes' numbers in low A ball were some of the best that level has ever seen. Unfortunately the main numbers that followed him into AA and AAA ball were his lack of walks, abundance of strikeouts, and injury proneness. So really, any prospect who has yet to hit AA should have a giant asterisk on them, and I wouldnt put any of them in a top 50 list, no matter how much hype they have. Bad K/BB ratios and bad K/AB ratios need to be heavily examined when evalutating the lower levels of the minors. You also need to heavily account for that prospects ability to hit breaking pitches, as they become more and more abundant at the higher levels of the minors. Yes, absolutely. Thing is though that it still isnt an exact science every year guys will confound predictions both positive and negative, and nobody can predict injuries, body type changes, personal habits etc. So assigning tangible value to A Ball prospects will always be dodgy at best. Now in your defense as you posted above, all you said was that Tabata had huge potential, and he is certainly doing well at this point. My point would be though that I wouldn't rank him higher on a top prospects list then any player putting up good numbers in AA or AAA, because those guys are proving their potential already, and dealing with stuff Tabata is only currently projected to succeed over. In a year or two Tabata could well be putting up great numbers at AA, at that time he'll then be deserving of a spot at or near the top of a prospect list. Fair. Too often prospects miss after dominating the lower levels of the minors, only to reach AA, be faced with 12-6 curveballs and sliders and fall apart. That's why prospects like Kevin Youkilis are underrated, whereas prospects like Kelly Shoppach are overrated. The ability to hit/take breaking pitches is everything once you reach AA. We'll see how Tabata does. He has been amazing so far.

I think the Yankees run into trouble because they rely almost solely on the free agent market to get pitching. They really have no decent prospects to use in a trade to net solid pitching. Sure they often sign the biggest FA pitchers out there but they are usually the ones expected not to pan out (Pavano, Vazquez). Correction: They have no prospects of the tradeable commodity that could net them any decent starting pitchers. Hughes and Tabata could get them anyone they wanted, they just aren't going anywhere.

The TERRIBLE Yankees minor league system is home to the best pitching prospect in baseball and the hitting prospect with the most potential. Terrible. Tabata has more hitting potential than Jay Bruce, Wood, Kendrick, Upton, and Delmon Young ? I think not. Imagine that, a Yankee fan terribly overrating his team's prospects ! I do think Tabata will be good, but he is 17 years old...alot can happen between 17 and major league stardom. Tabata has more potential than everyone on that list not including Delmon Young. Yes. And a lot of people agree with me. Terribly overrating? Look around. BA called Tabata the best position player at the Futures game. RW has Tabata as the 18th best prospect in baseball. And you just saw what Baseball Analysts said. Don't even give me that BS. I'm not overrating at all. Tabata has WORLDS of potential, which is all I claimed. I never said he was going to be an all-star, I just mentioned his unbelievable potential.

The second episode, "Crouch End", was the best of the two tonight, imho. Heavy Lovecraft influence in that story. Great ending and great camerawork. Nice acting by Claire Forlani as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but there was no word spoken in the first epsisode "Battleground", was there? On the television there was, if I'm not mistaken. No, he was in the airport so the TV had closed captioning on. There were no words spoken throughout the episodes hence my reference to 'The Invaders'. Homage? Perhaps. EDIT: Just found out that the writer who did the teleplay for "Battleground" is the son of Richard Matheson, author of "The Invaders". I knew there had to be a connection.

Phenom? That word is reserved for super-prospects, not Adam Jones.

Wow, that was a great episode. Very impressed. Reminded me a great deal of 'The Invaders' from The Twilight Zone. I'm going through a major thunderstorm right now though so my satellite dish gave out. Second episode was just getting interesting, too. The guys arm is hanging out of the bush and he is screaming "DORIS! DORIS" and then the dish craps out. Son of a bitch!

I'm quite excited about this, having been a huge fan of anthology series such as The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone. Hopefully this lives up to its potential. I'll be watching.

Huff is a bad player. His average OPS over the last 3 years isn't even over 800, and he doesnt have the peripherals to overcome that. He also sucks defensively. Very mediocre player. Don't think Huff puts the Astros over the top. I don't know why everyone thinks this is a bad trade for the Devil Rays. Aubrey Huff is heavily overrated, apparently. Huff is not a bad player. He has shown flashes of being a consistently good left handed bat, but fell off last season and seems to slowly making his way back up. His offensive statistics are very middle of the road (actually bad, in my opinion) and he is terrible defensively. That makes him a bad player. I don't factor in potential. Isn't he almost 30 years old?

does it irritate anyone else that Lo Duca is starting the all star game? Olivo is having a better year than him and isnt even in the All star game...this fan voting has got to go It happens every year at at least 4 spots. Just let it slide off your back, the fan voting isnt going anywhere. You just need the right perspective, this is a popularity contest not an actual "best players of the first half" game.

Why on earth are you favoring K's and K/9 so much? Horribly flawed. Look at Kyle Farnsworth. Amazing K's and K/9 but he sucks. The Best Closers in Baseball: 1. Mariano Rivera 2. Jonathon Papelbon 3. BJ Ryan Done. No one else is worth talking about. Bobby Jenks has been automatic maybe better than Rivera this year I'm not looking at statistics, I'm going by what my eyes and brain tell me. I would much rather have Rivera, Ryan and Papelbon on the mound than Jenks. Anyone can have a better year than Rivera, I'll still take him over everyone else when the game really matters.
