Posted July 12, 200618 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2517046 for 2 minor leaguers, a pitcher 23 and 25 year old hitting prospect?
July 12, 200618 yr Aubrey Huff plus cash: The Devil Rays agreed to pay the Astros more than $1.6 million to offset Huff's contract.
July 12, 200618 yr Author he is a second half player so this is a good pick up. He should destroy in that park in houston
July 12, 200618 yr huff is flexible nad can play all over at all corner positions, just what the Astros need. this probably cuts into lamb and ensberg's playing time. jason lane going to the minors, maybe he can figure out hitting down there.
July 12, 200618 yr I hope he fouls a ball off Phil Garners face. classy. good pickup for the 'stros...they needed another power bat badly.
July 12, 200618 yr Good get for the Astros. They can probably resign him too, so the trade works well on both ends.
July 12, 200618 yr You would think the Rays would have gotten a legitimate pitching prospect atleast, maybe a Fernando Nieve? They really got shafted.
July 12, 200618 yr I dont think Huff was the best bargaining chip to bring back a +prospect, as a very slow first half made his trade value much lower than it has been in recent years.

July 12, 200618 yr :: Sigh :: There goes the only chance we had at the Central and maybe NL If your season was hanging on whether or not the Astros got Aubrey Huff you never had much of a chance at all.
July 12, 200618 yr Huff is a bad player. His average OPS over the last 3 years isn't even over 800, and he doesnt have the peripherals to overcome that. He also sucks defensively. Very mediocre player. Don't think Huff puts the Astros over the top. I don't know why everyone thinks this is a bad trade for the Devil Rays. Aubrey Huff is heavily overrated, apparently.

July 12, 200618 yr Bad move for both teams. Huff isn't exactly what the Astros needed, and the Rays could have gotten more in a week or two from a team that inquires about Abreu and gets put off by the demands of both prospects and contract committments. I'm not a huge fan of it, really.

Huff is not a bad player. He has shown flashes of being a consistently good left handed bat, but fell off last season and seems to slowly making his way back up.

His offensive statistics are very middle of the road (actually bad, in my opinion) and he is terrible defensively. That makes him a bad player. I don't factor in potential. Isn't he almost 30 years old?
July 12, 200618 yr Tampa should have traded Huff about a year and a half ago when he had some real trade value. He'll help Houston but this isn't like the trade a couple of years ago that sent Admin Walker to St. Louis by any means.
July 12, 200618 yr The D-rays could have landed themselves a treasure chest for him a few years ago, back when he was projected to turn into the next Mr. Badass. Now he's just a mediocre 29-year-old who never managed to realize that potential. He turns 30 this winter.
