Marlins sign 10 to one-year deals
hanley is still under club control. All those other guys would go to arbitration if they aren't signed. Those other guys are not arbitration eligible. Hanley will get a one year deal same as the others. This is not a big deal.

MB.com Community Projection: Dan Uggla THURSDAY 2/21/08
Dan Uggla hitting .274? Yeah, definitely sounds impossible seeing as he hit .282 in 2006. Yes but now he will get less hittable pitches since Cabrera is gone, people will start going after him more aggressively. His babip was nearly 40 points above what it was in 2006 then in 2007. Bad luck in '07.. in '08 he'll have a bounce back year in luck.

bad news bear ((law suit update))
I'm not a lawyer, I don't play one on TV and I havent stayed at a Holiday Inn Express but the legal issue that concerns me the most is the shell game with the CRA funds. If I understand correctly, he has yet to file a lawsuit about that.

Girardi's Rules
Why? Do you honestly believe any of those rules will result in more wins from the Yankees or Marlins? I guess we disagree because I think being on time and not staying out until all hours of the night are a good thing.

2008 Season Outlook
Scott Olsen - 3.75 ERA Andrew Miller - 4.25 ERA Rick VandenHurk - 3.99 ERA Sergio Mitre - 3.25 ERA Mark Hendrickson - 4.30 ERA With those ERAs we would probablty have one of the best rotations in the league and would probably be in the post-season chase. I don't see it happening. I think we win between 70 and 76.

Early Voting
Don't know why all the Republicans here like McCain so much. Whatever though, we have democracy for a reason. I'll vote for him but not because I like him so much but because he has a good shot of winnign the general election while Romney and Huckabee don't. I don't know how to go with the property tax amendment. I hate the current scheme as it's ridiculously unfair against new homeowners and owners of second homes but I think the revised scheme may make it even worse.

Braman files suit
I took graduate tax courses with the county attorney mentioned in the Herald article. We would drive together from Miami to FIU's Ft. Lauderdale campus. She was gorgeous. Definitely man, she was the only attractive girl at that meeting of the board of county commissioners that we all watched in december. i envy you. Although you never know how people will age in my original post I was going to say I would bet that she still looked gorgeous so I'm not at all surprised she still looks good.

Braman files suit
First off, this was reported yesterday in the Miami Herald (Braman sues Miami, county over downtown megaplan). Secondly, unless the Court grants a temporary injunction (which in a case like this will be HIGHLY UNLIKELY), there will be nothing legally stopping the project from going forward. Up here in Palm Beach, a citizens group prevailed in court over the construction of the new West Palm Beach City Hall not being on the ballot. Construction has not been halted and the side will then sort out whatever mess remains. I have not had a chance to review the complaint, nor what basis Braman is basing his claim on "standing" (which the right of an individual to bring a lawsuit in the first place - not everyone has a right to sue on an issue or matter). Just from what I read, his Sunshine Law cause of action appears to be VERY WEAK. I handled Sunshine Law matters for a local government for several years, and trying to pin down negotiations between the City Manager as being subject to the Sunshine Law is not a very strong argument. Do you think he has a legit case regarding the use of CRA funds for subsidize the PAC? Are there certain guidelines that need to be followed in the use of CRA funds? I took graduate tax courses with the county attorney mentioned in the Herald article. We would drive together from Miami to FIU's Ft. Lauderdale campus. She was gorgeous.

Jim Rice a HOFer?
Well, if Rice should be in, then couldn't you consider Ellis Burks to be a HOFer as well (even though he came a bit later)? I have trouble accepting that. There's a pretty big difference in power numbers between 1974 and 1987. The gap is even bigger between 1989 [Rice's last year] and 2004 [burks's last]. That's why people tend to be compared to their peers and I don't think Burks and Rice were peers. There's a reason Rice won an MVP and finished top 20 7 other times compared to Burks with 0 and 3. Just to give you a case in point, Rice lead the league in home runs with 39 in '77 and '83. When Burks was in his prime [1996], a dozen guys hit over 40 homers including 2 that hit over 50. I don't think Rice is a HOF lock but we should be fair to the guy... I agree. Compared to their peers Rice was a way better hitter than Burks. Among his peers there's maybe 5 to 10 better hitters than Rice. Among his peers there's way more better hitters than Burks than 5 to 10.

American Gladiators
I didn't watch it and don't plan to. For those wondering, it did really well in the ratings. Yes, the ratings were great and I can't believe it. I was a huge fan of the original but this one is terrible. There's very little action compared to the old version and the quick cuts and replays are annoying and make it hard to follow the action. Also, I don't care for the announcers. Czonka was great and Adamle was good too. As far as the T&A aspects, I think some of the original girls hot but am not particulalrly impressed with the new ones.

Computer Question
If you don't have an external hard drive or a flash drive what I would do with the images is to put all of them in a zip file and then upload the file to something like badongo.com and then later on download it. I haven't done it but don't see why it wouldn't work.

Norm Braman makes pitch against stadium
I'm not sure what taxes you're talking about, but the money being spent on the Marlins' stadium cannot be spent to help the poor. That's just a fact. Braman is lying to get his way. I think you're wrong. I don't think all the money to be spent by the county / city is tourism related tax money.
-
Norm Braman makes pitch against stadium
Pierre, I think the sports tax has to be used for sports and I think the tourist tax or hotel tax or whatever it's called can be used for anything that's tourism related. I guess the stadium is considered to be tourism related so it can be used for it.

Starting Rotation
Can anyone tell me honestly that they are psyched that Olsen is our probable OD starter? me Why? You think he's good?
-
Goose Gossage
He wasn't very good, that's why. We have a different definition for the word good.

Randy Shannon Lands Top Recruit.
Nothing more immature than to call out a HS recruit for his choice in college. So stupid. But it is pretty well known down here in South Florida why PJ is going to LSU: How do you have anything to back this up? He doesn't. Pretty irresponsible to ever insinuate something like that even if it is as said on somewhere as meaningless as a message board. I know and I agree.

Terrible so far. The old version was much better.

Cam Cameron officially out
Yeah, he killed the team all by himself. Without Cameron, this team wouldve been a playoff team No he didn't and they wouldn't but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve to be fired. Do you think he should have been retained?
