Guys, do you really want to argue this? If the answer is yes, please do so through the board's private messenging system. Shall your post counts be docked for such frivilous debate. The best part of this thread is TSwift's sig with Scarlett... Damn, keep arguing - please! :thumbup

Panthers blow another game with 11 seconds left
I hope Luongo is starting to slack off again. Trade his pompous ass asap. He obviously doens't want to remain in SF based upon his rejection of the latest contract offer. He hasn't beening playing like a superstar as of yet. Let's get something for him while we still can. Luongo's starting to remind me of AJ Burnett. :thumbdown

Rays add Micelli...
He's still a bum... TAMPA - The Devil Rays added another new face to their restructured bullpen, signing journeyman reliever Dan Miceli to two-year contract worth $1.5 million, with a club option for 2008. Miceli, 35, is a 13-year major-league veteran with stints with nine teams. He's pitched in 60 or more games four times. He is coming off a difficult 2005 season. Miceli began the year in Japan with the Yomiuri Giants, but was released after two and a half weeks. He then signed a minor-league contract with Colorado. Miceli was promoted to the Rockies in June and he was 1-2 with a 5.89 ERA in 18 1/3 innings, but he was shelved for the rest of the season two months later with multiple stress fractures in his foot. In 2004 with Houston, Miceli went 6-6 with a 3.59 ERA as the Astros' set-up man. He struck out 83 batters in 77 2/3 innings. He reportedly considered retiring after that season. The signing comes a day after the Rays signed Japanese relief pitcher Shinji Mori. Miceli will likely complete with Mori for the Rays' setup role. To make room on their 40-man roster, the Rays designated reliever Franklin Nunez for assignment.

Admin Beinfest to Nationals?
It's been reported in Sports Weekly that when the Nationals finally get sold that Beinfest could leave the Marlins and take over the Nationals. That would be quite a blast to the Marlins re-building plan I would think. I'm already nervous with the fact that the Marlins will be very young and their manager has never managed a major or minor league game anywhere in his life. It's possible that Girardi will be over his head just as much as the players are. Im confident that Mike Hill could step in and do a fine job :thumbup

Idiot judge sentences a serial child rapist to only 60 days in jail
definitely ... he obviously is likely to commit the crime during the next "x" amount of years will he be rehabilitated on the way out? - maybe not, but will he be abusing little kids over that span? - definitely not who knows, the longer in jail, the more possibility that his child raping antics piss off some lifer who decides to just kill him - which would be the best case If this bastard does walk and does eventually commit a similar crime, is there any precedent for suing the judge and holding him liable for failing to incarcerate and thus putting the public in danger? :mischief2

Admin Beinfest to Nationals?
The ownership derby for the Nationals has been narrowed to the Fred Malek group and Jeff Smulyan, according to sources close to the sale process. Marlins GM Admin Beinfest has emerged as a top candidate to become the Nationals' next general manager. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/bbw/columni...11-majors_x.htm Although I'd hate to see Beinfest leave...things wouldn't be so bad as long as the Marlins were able to hire Mike Hill as his replacemnet. Not to mention that would open the door for Ramp to be Assistant GM. :thumbup

Fantasy:TOP20 CATCHER for 2006
Juanky, I know you and I share an understanding of what it takes to be an everyday catcher. My overwhelming concern regarding Willingham behind the plate is the toll it would take on him physically, with the result being his offensive production suffers. That's why, for myself, and I'm not in the decision-making loop, I'd like to see Willingham in leftfield where he'll have the best chance to stay healthy and contribute with his bat, playing enough time behind the plate to better his skills, but primarily leaving the bulk of the time to others. This team needs to score runs in order to survive, perhaps more runs than previous years. And BTW, you make a good point that this is a fantasy baseball POV. I don't personally see him playing catcher for more than maybe 20 games this season. I think, unless Olivo absolutely bombs in Spring Training, the job should be his as it leaves only one spot open in the field instead of two. I don't see the need to have him at catcher, it's a defensive position. The offense would be for naught if he can't call a good game and can't throw runners out, among other things. I'd prefer him in LF where we've seen him play (no mistakes from my memory) and let someone who is a catcher naturally to man the position. Plus, that way we only need to have an Aguila/Reed/Whoever battle for CF instead of just handing one of them the job of LF. Absolutely correct. :notworthy

Hollandsworth agrees to minor-league deal with Indians Jan. 9, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports CLEVELAND -- Free-agent outfielder Todd Hollandsworth agreed Monday to a minor-league contract with the Cleveland Indians. Hollandsworth hit .254 with five homers and 35 RBI in 107 games last season for the Chicago Cubs. The 32-year-old was traded to Atlanta on Aug. 29 for two minor league pitchers. He played in 24 games for the Braves, but was not on the club's postseason roster for the NL playoffs against Houston. In 2004, Hollandsworth, a .275 career hitter, batted .318 with eight homers and 22 RBI in 57 games for Chicago. Hollandsworth, originally drafted in the third round of the 1991 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, has also been with Colorado, Texas and Florida. He won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1996, when he hit .291 with 12 homers, 59 RBI and 21 steals in 149 games for the Dodgers.

Transactions
The Marlins are looking to add a very young and inexperienced stud with upside to their outfield, look for them to deal one of the young pitching prospects they aquired to do so. Ya think? Maybe they can pick up Joe Hardy from the Washington Senators. I hear Wayne Comer of the Seattle Pilots might also be available. :whistle
