1. This is a no-brainer? How could it not be Jeff Allison??? :o
2. I agree with you hotcorner. He just needs to stop LOOKING for walks, hes swung maybe twice in four AB's. He might just be pressing too much, hoping to make a god impression. Whatever it is, he needs to get that bat off his shoulder. 2-6 aint nothing to brag about? He came up big in clutch situations again. Thats someting he brings to the table and a main reason why he was re-signed 833268 a few things... Willingham has swung more than 2 times... and its not that we dont like Lo Duca... its more of the fact of his contract and the fact that he is not a very good 2nd half hitter... there are other reasons too, but I dont feel like arguing year old topics 833318 Yeah...that's why we have RFerry around. :thumbup
3. Even if Beckett is 100% why not give the kid another start at home and Beckett can start tomorrow night, over the weekend or Monday in Milwaukee. The main reason behind my thinking is all the roster shuffling once Beckett comes back. But as long as we win tonight I don't care if Billy the Marlin pitches tonight. 833350 I hope Billy's mechanics are better than Messenger's. :cool
4. I would love him up there, but so he can do what ride the pine and pinch hit here and there? Until we move Enc, we dont need him really. I think perhaps if we can move Enc then we can deal with him up here to spot start with Connie. Send down Willingham then in the mean time. But, I would personally rather have Chris Aguila up. 833211 Aguila over Hermida???
5. This is f'ing awesome..For once nobody is arguing about another persons trade proposal..Beautiful 830903 haha, that's b/c this makes TOO MUCH sense....and because we know this would beat the Mets sorry offer 830910 Kudos to whoever started this thread... :whistle
6. Just spoke to a friend in Chicago...he says the hot rumor has the Cubbies trading Corey Patterson to the Yanks for Gary Sheffield. It got me thinking about a package deal of AJ & JP for Sheff, Gordon and a prospect or two. Obviously, NY would need to pick up a significant portion of Sheffield's contract for this to be a realistic possibility. Thoughts? :mischief2
7. Jack is not a "team player." Jack is all about Jack. 830693 Yeah...that's the ticket. :whistle
8. Roses are red Violets are blue If we keep this up the board will implode 829797 Well done and well said... :thumbup
9. Jack's style. Veteran in a hole... give him a shovel to keep digging. Minors Flash... bring him up and don't let him play. Sorry. I don't like Jack McKeon. 829736 Jack is old school. Been there, won that. Proof is in the pudding. Put up or shut up. This is the bigs...no time for babying. Lowell, JP and Enc all have rings...been through the wars. Willy, Dilly and the rest got squat. Sorry. I have faith in Trader Jack.
10. Clutch hit, defense elevate new starting catcher By Justin Coons Special to The Tribune June 25, 2005 Ryan Jorgensen is no stranger to big games. The new starting catcher for the Albuquerque Isotopes has been a part of some winning teams in the past. He was a member of the 1998 Junior College World Series team at San Jacinto Junior College in Houston. He also played for Louisiana State's 2000 national championship team. On Friday, he made his first start this season for the Isotopes - he replaced Florida Marlins-bound catcher Josh Willingham - and proved he can prosper under pressure. The Isotopes trailed 5-3 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning as Jorgensen came to bat. The bases were loaded. The game was on the line. Jorgensen was ready. "That was exciting," Jorgensen said, "with everyone cheering and the pressure behind it." The situation gave Jorgensen a chance to prove himself as a starter. He worked the count to 2-2 before blasting a two-run single to center field. "He came up with a big hit," Isotopes manager Dean Treanor said. The single drove in Jason Wood and Wilson Delgado. It helped fuel an eight-run rally that gave Albuquerque a 9-5 lead, which the Isotopes held for the win. Jorgensen's lone hit in four at-bats extended his hitting streak to seven games. The clutch hit provided a big thrill. But he said he was pleased more by his defensive play behind the plate. In the top of the fourth, he picked off Sounds catcher Julio Mosquera attempting to steal second base. Treanor said most of Jorgensen's talent is in his defense. He has a .219 batting average in 31 games. "As far as I'm concerned, he can catch and throw with anybody," Treanor said. The rate at which he's risen through the minor leagues shows he could be catching major leaguers soon. After being traded to the Florida Marlins' farm system in 2002, Jorgensen joined the Single-A Jupiter Hammerheads, based out of Jupiter, Fla. He made the Florida State League All-Star team that season. He was promoted to Double-A Carolina the following year where he batted .242 with 28 runs and 34 RBIs in 211 at-bats for the Mudcats. He moved on to Triple-A Albuquerque in 2004. Jorgensen started 56 games for the Isotopes in ?04, but lost his job with the addition of Willingham to the roster. He said he had no problem moving to backup. "When you're behind a guy who bats .337 you can't really complain," Jorgensen said. But with Willingham called up to the Marlins on Friday, Jorgensen is in a position where he can show off his talents daily. If he can prove himself as a starter, it might not be long before Jorgensen is making another move - this one to the majors. "Hopefully," he said, "as long as I keep playing at my pace." :thumbup
11. Malman replied to musk's topic in Miami Marlins
I still dont know why McKeon didnt let Mess pitch to Jones when the count was 2-2 atleast throw 2 balls in the dirt, why just give him the free pass 829490 Yeah, I was kind of surprised as well...guess he didn't have cofidence that Messenger would have the discipline to keep the ball out of the zone. Also, I'm sure he was hoping to set up the double play. It's not as if Old Man Franco can run...unfortunatley he can still hit though.
12. Malman replied to musk's topic in Miami Marlins
who the hell is this guy and why did McKeon give him such a long leash in such a close game? i mean jesus. where was mecire or de los santos or reidling or even mota?! why the HELL did he use a young guy in such a tight ball game? we were down 2 runs Jack. Thats it. w/ 6 outs left. How are you going to put a young guy in such a tight situation and give him such a long leash? 829367 This post is a joke...the ultimate second guess... If Jack brings in Reidling, Bump, Mecir, etc. and they give up some runs...you'd be crying that Messenger was rotting in the pen and that Jack wasn't utilizing him properly. :thumbdown

16. Relax...this is a bogus report... Please close this thread...
17. Caught just the end of the report but Channel 5 in WPB just reported the trade of Burnett and Encarnacion (Baltimore involved.) They don't have credibility for being on top of things... but I couldn't understand why we haven't had confirmation or alert herein. 828419 Alzheimer's??? :whistle
18. If willy is traded some of the members of this board would slip into a Coma 828398 I'll have a new favorite team. 828405 Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out...

22. Perfect swing? Carroll just wants to hit ball hard. 6-26-05 By Bill Hass, Staff Writer News & Record Sometimes Brett Carroll lets his mind take over instead of just playing baseball. "I'm pretty observant and I like to take a moment and step outside the everyday box," says the Greensboro Grasshoppers outfielder. "But I can overanalyze things and deep-think too much. "I want to be able to lay out the perfect swing when I just need to get in the batter's box and swing like I did when I was a kid and hit the ball hard." Carroll has had mixed results this season. He's hitting .267 and showing power, with 14 doubles and 15 home runs. But he only has 32 RBIs for the Grasshoppers through Friday's game. Fans at First Horizon Park probably are surprised at his home run total because he has hit only two at home and 13 on the road. That remains a mystery to Carroll. "The ball carries well here," he said. "Maybe I'm swinging too aggressively. I'm fouling some balls back that I should hit hard. I seem to be more relaxed on the road." That might translate into a good performance Tuesday night at the South Atlantic League All-Star game in Augusta, Ga. Carroll will start in center field for the Northern Division team, which includes teammates Chris Mobley and Craig Molldrem, both pitchers. Carroll, from Knoxville, Tenn., was drafted in the 10th round last summer after his junior year at Middle Tennessee State. He made a deal with his mom that he'll finish his degree in organizational communications, even if he makes the major leagues. The Florida Marlins believe he has a chance to do just that. Brian Chattin, the Marlins' director of player development, likes Carroll's power, speed and arm. This is his first full season playing the outfield after spending his college career as an infielder. "He's got an above-average arm, covers a lot of ground and looks like he's been playing out there for years," Chattin said. Carroll played some third base at Jamestown last year, but wasn't surprised when Marlins officials told him of the switch. "I feel like I've found a home out there," he said. "In the infield, you can make some exciting plays, like laying out and getting dirty. That's the part I miss. In the outfield, you pretty much go get the ball and hit the cutoff man." Carroll's chance for an exciting play now comes in throwing out a runner trying to take an extra base. He has done that a few times this season. The Marlins want to see more consistent contact from Carroll and more RBIs. Corner outfielders need to be run-producers. "He does some things in batting practice that open your eyes," Chattin said. "He works hard and is making good progress." Carroll is aware of his shortcomings. "It's odd, not having more RBIs with my home runs," he said. "It's my fault. I haven't taken advantage of the opportunities. There's still a lot of work to do."
23. I was looking of the Greensboro roster this evening and noticed that Cole Seifrig, Xavier Arroyo and Beau McMillan are all listed as "suspended". Does anyone know the story behind this??? :mischief2
