From bad to worse in Boston
"Come hit in this lineup, see how good you can be." -- Ortiz Doesn't he have Manny Ramirez batting behind him??? :plain No, see, it's cool. He'd Big Papi, he can throw teammates under the bus and it's cool. As a matter of fact it's responding in "an honest and reasonable way." I mean, whenever a player on my team gets candid, I definitely want to hear him diminish the contributions of a future hall-of-famer and a $120 million payroll. Yeah, I think berating Jeter and A-Rod is bad enough, but when you do it to your own teammates? Not cool.

From bad to worse in Boston
I have to agree with TSwift here. Fox, you say it doesn't look like he's concerned with his own accolades? Did you read the article? Of course he's concerned! He comes across as selfish and preoccupied to me. Ortiz could have answered the MVP question easily. All he had to do is say, "Yes, I feel I deserve consideration, and I think my numbers speak for themselves." Instead he comes off as pompous and selfish, and berates other players, especially Jeter. Just doesn't sound good for the normally charismatic, fun-loving guy. But I do agree that a lot of it is out of frustration.

Pick one of each... Radio/T.V.
DVH used to always say, when a home run was hit, "Up, up and away!!!" I'm so glad he changed that. I like Tommy and Rich, but I agree with TSwift that Tommy needs to stop bringing up the lack of attendance EVERY GAME.

Miggy right on Sanchez's tail
After today's game, Cabs (.339) is now only 1 point behind Freddy Sanchez for the NL batting title lead. :thumbup

Got Miggy's attention
"That's pretty amazing b/c he is a huge dick. I'm pretty sure he didn't want to be there " Be careful what you say about my man. :mad

Thoughts on tonight's game
WTF?!?!?!? last straw time for Joe Girardi tonight Im sorry but the crap he pulled tonight was so unbelievable. I still can't believe it. WHY IN GOD'S NAME ARE WE PITCHING TO RYAN HOWARD? This guy is absolutely locked in. He crushed a double early in the game. He then belts a homerun to left field. Why are we still pitching to this guy? He then crushes a homerun to RF? WHY IS GIRARDI SO DAMN STUBBORN? Why didnt we hit Howard after they hit Cabs? You know damn well Scotty O wanted to hit him. Sigh I know I pile on Alfredo Amezaga alot, but he is not a very good CFer. Maybe it was just a bad night, but the jumps he got tonight were atrocious. WHY IS AMEZAGA EVEN PLAYING TONIGHT? He cant hit lefties for his freaking life. Was anyone shocked he couldnt get the run in in the 2nd inning? Of course you werent. He cant drive in runs save for his hit in Milwaukee last weekend. Why is Amezaga hitting in the 8th inning? Again, he cant hit lefties. We had a man on and Cody Ross has homerun power. Absolutely nonsense tonight. Im so damn angry.... what's everyone else think? I was at the game tonight (upper deck), so it was hard for me to see what kind of pitches Olsen was throwing to Howard, but yeah, I have no idea why they were pitching to him, especially before his last home run. Howard has struck out close to 160 times this yr; Olsen should have been throwing balls in the dirt, low and away. If he walks, he walks. Who cares. You then have Howard at first with 1 out. Not really into the whole retaliation thing regarding intentionally hitting a batter, but that's just me. Regarding Amezaga, is Ross injured or something? I like Mezzy, but as you pointed out, he doesn't hit well from the left side. Frustrating game. Really frustrating. Our offense just didn't have it tonight.

So who is going to tonight's game?
I'll be there again tonight, this time upper deck behind home plate. This is the 4th game I've been to this week. Hoping for a big crowd!

Hank Aaron Award finalists
Never said I was suprised by his absence. But I myself have other things to worry about. I know Cabs is great. You know hes great. Even New York knows he is great. Cabrera has inadvertantly spawned an inferiority complex amongs the masses of New York(and, really, the whole sports broadcasting world in general...which treats NY as their mecca). This inferiority complex leads them to constantly pump Wright, the inferior player, and completely leave off Cabs, the superior player, out of any discussion for anything that might make them be featured prominently amongst todays players. This inferiority complex also has other dark motives. Cabs has trouble getting press for any accomplishment, unless it is negative. The "fight" with Scott Olsen? Couldnt spit without hitting some reference to it. Any of his accomplishments that have come from a good place? Good luck hearing about it. This inferiority complex will never go away. Its a New York thing. They have to be the biggest and best at everything. And even if something isnt the best, they have the media pulling strings available to make the public at large believe it is, in fact, the best. So we should just learn to ignore the New Yawkers. The misguided ones at least. Cant ignore the entire city because there are just so many of them. We have our own cutural icon. We know where he sits in the grand scheme of things and what accolades he truly deserves. The fact that they choose to ignore it is nothing but their loss. Couldn't have said it better myself. :thumbup

Hank Aaron Award finalists
Well, Cabs was up for the award, but he wasn't chosen as a finalist.

Hank Aaron Award finalists
Here are the NL finalists: David Wright Albert Pujols Ryan Howard Alfonso Soriano Nomar Garciaparra Lance Berkman Well, I think it's pretty obvious what a joke this award is. The finalists are voted on by the fans, so this really shouldn't surprise me. Still pisses me off, though. :thumbdown

Got Miggy's attention
Thanks to TSwift, I was sitting 4 rows behind home plate tonight, and before the game, I held up my Cabs=MVP sign toward the dugout. Cabrera saw me, waved, got Dontrelle's attention, and D-Train acknowledged me as well. :notworthy

So who is going to tonight's game?
I changed my mind and I'm going now. I can always record the Dolphins game... :mischief

3 free tickets for Wednesday's game for someone "lucky."
I think he is leaving the tickets at will call, I think that is why he asked for your full names. I hope so! The strange thing is, he did e-mail me, and it said the ticket was attached. I guess I'll just take a chance and drive down.

Help! Does anyone have TSwift's phone number? He sent me an e-mail, but the ticket wasn't attached!

3 free tickets for Wednesday's game for someone "lucky."
First off, TSwift, thanks so much for your generosity! :thumbup Every game I've been to this year the Marlins have won (including the Boston game, where we ended their 10-game winning streak). I made a "Cabs=MVP" sign the other day and chanted "MVP" every time Miggy was at the plate on Monday. If I won these tickets, I'm sure I would be able to get Cabs' attention with my sign (and I'm sure he'll hear my MVP chants as well.) I am very into getting the MVP vote out for Miggy. I have an electronic license plate frame that scrolls "Cabrera for MVP." I went to the Marlins/Nats game (Miggy's 100th HR) by myself, after not being able to find anyone to go with. It was, to me, one of the most magical nights of the season. Just a die-hard fan since '93 who never misses watching a game. These tickets would be amazing. Hell, I would take just one ticket, and give the others to someone else.

Kruk on Wright
Not by the standards of major league third-baseman. Than Cabrera isn't much of GG candidate either. Statistically he's just much in the middle of the pack as Wright, but we all know fielding statistics are inherently flawed foir a variety of reason. All of which we could get into if I really gave 2 shits about the gold glove award. If you guys want to whine and cry about every bit of recognition Wright gets and how he does or doesn't deserve it, have fun. The point isn't that Miggy is a Gold-Glove candidate. The point is that it's damn stupid that the media is lining up to be jizzed on by David Wright yet no one gives a lick of credit to Cabrera. In every conceivable way, Cabrera is better than Wright, honestly it's not even close, yet people think Cabrera couldn't hold Wright's jock. Disgusting inaccuracies like that just piss me off. Me too. If Cabrera played in N.Y. or Boston, he would be worshipped. Period. He definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves. And Wright? From last I've seen, his numbers have gone down quite a bit since the All-Star break.

What a game!!!!
For those who were watching the game on TV, did anyone see a girl holding up a "Cabs=MVP" sign? The friend who I went with got a call from a friend of his about seeing him and a girl with a Cabrera sign. It would be exciting if my sign got on television! There wasn't a big crowd today, but they were very loud and into the game. What a great win!

Homestand... Who is going?
I'll be there tomorrow holding up my "Cabs=MVP" sign. :thumbup

New record reached
In two years, Miggy'll probably hold every non-speed based Marlin record both for the single season and career. lol hes probably the best player in marlins history Offensively, no question, and soon he will more feared than Sheffield ever was. Best at 3rd base ? Hmmm, are you forgetting Lowell who has the highest fielding % at 3rd base in all of MLB history ? :mischief2 I think there's no doubt Lowell is the better defensive player, but are you saying Lowell was a better overall 3rd baseman than Cabs?

Marlins make history and reach .500!

Next 4 games....
Scott Olsen, LHP (11-7, 4.24) @ Tomo Ohka, RHP (4-3, 4.40) Cabs likes Ohka. Batting .481 against him w/ a HR, triple and 7 doubles in 27 at-bats. :thumbup I just hope Miggy will be back in top form really soon. He seemed a bit hesitant at the plate last night.

Future/ No Future
Cabs? Future??? :mischief
