More Excellent Stadium News
I laughed when I read the title, when I drive to see the Marlins I'm not going to think oh I can't wait to get some coffee before the game at the garage cafe shops. WTF. Not yet atleast. Samson is right, if the team were allowed to lease the spots, the city would have a huge weight lifted off their shoulder. The Marlins should have found tenants for the city to make money off of. The main issue at hand is the fact that mid-development the city switched gears from a shops and restaurant format to a high end boutique. That will doom the opening day. What's best right now is to get anyone in there right now, even at a loss. Bring in a few shops, and a restaurant or coffee shop. Get some buzz generating there, and fill it up. Sign them all to one year leases, with an option for them to resign at a higher rate after one year and continue on one year leases. Only problem is they haven't even drawn lease agreements to present. This government is really screwing the pooch. What do you guys thing will come of it. A few shops like the pharmacy (maybe Walgreens or CVS), a starbucks, maybe a bar (No cooked foods, similar to the outdoor bar in bayside) and a Miami Heat/ Miami Dolphins team store for now will work. I really wish I could spearhead the finding of tenants for that area. It may not be the best least agreements for the first year, but they would fully operational by Feburary 1st. I'm no expert, but I doubt many businesses would actually sign a 1-year lease with no other assurances; the risk of losing immense sunk costs would probably outweigh most rent savings the city might offer. The option is theirs, on a year to year basis. My idea was the first year gives them the option to try it out, if it doesn't work the first year for them they can leave. If they want to stay, they sign another year lease with another option at a higher rate. Say the city wants 18k a month on each spot. They find tenants at 12k for the first year. If those tenants want to stay beyond year one, it would be at a 18k rate. Filling the spot for now quickly, and possibly long term if the business prospects hold up.

Is Felix Hernandez a long shot?
I was reading this article (http://espn.go.com/b...felix-hernandez) and thought Gaby to the Mariners, along with other players, would make sense for the M's if they didn't sign Fielder. Now that the organization is willing to spend on starting pitchers we could probably reel in King Felix and maybe give him an extension... Thoughts? Possible, if were trading Hanley. I would do it, IF Hanley has asked to be traded. Trade him to Seattle out of spite. He wanted to play for a big market team, and be a league superstar, let him be a nobody on the west coast with the Mariners. Seriously. If hanley didn't ask to be traded, I'd move Dominguez, Skipworth and Gaby for Hernandez. 2 ML ready players and a catcher prospect would be a good deal for seattle.

Will there be a complete site overhaul ?
The logo could be redesigned better, the only issue is who is willing to undertake it. I have the artistic skills of an autistic bat and the design tastes of a south beach tourist. It can bedone, but anyone who is willing to offer suggestions should do it.

Juan Carlos Oviedo arrested
I don't get why he has to use a false identity, for tax reasons? He was underage when he signed his first contract, use an older idenity to sign. So in my eyes he's still decent option considering he's not as old as we thought.

Cody Ross?
God no, Cody Ross is an a-hole. Actually, if we had tons of money, I'd give him the three years and never let him play a single flipping game, not an inning, not an out. He'd never touch that new field. He'd practice over in Joe Robbie... alone. Id love to see a team try that, it be awesome

Prince Fielder to Tigers
Was I the only one who heard samson say "no" when asked if perusing fielder? No, I heard it too, but he was denying almost everything not having to do with Reyes/Bell. And denying anything that says FLORIDA MARLINS. Dan needs to ask if the Miami Marlins have contacted Prince.

How Will You Sully Albert Pujols?
I'll ask for his autograph at Spring training- on a contract saying he wants to be traded to the marlins. I will also have him sign a Marlins hat.

MarlinsBaseball Underground Gizzy Awards 2011
Not even a lifetime achievement award nomination for me. I'm gonna work harder next year.

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Are they panicking by going to 6 years? I think so. With the Pujols thing collapsing, they are desperate for that "third piece" they talked about and want to get something to announce sooner rather than later. I think your counting Bell as the first piece. I am counting Reyes, and two of Pujols, Wilson, Buerhle.

Is Loria forgiven?
Mixed feelings on my end. The Cabrera trade was part of "the plan," I assume. I approached Samson and Beinfest at the Governor's Baseball Dinner at the Trop about it a few months after. Samson looked me in the eyes and said they really didn't want to do it but had to. I give them credit for finally getting the ballpark deal done. And now, we'll see. I'm still not their biggest fan. They could have avoided it (or postponed it), if they had bought out Cabrera's arbitration. That's where they dropped the ball. Miggy was never going to sign here long term. People always forget that. Why wouldn't he? If there was a "five year plan" Loria could've easily signed Cabrera long term in anticipation of the new stadium revenues. I'm all for Loria but this is one trade they def screwed up. The Marlins kept asking him to lose weight and they'll sign him to a long term deal. Miggy kept eating enchaladas and chorizo's while boozing it up. The Marlins weren't going to give that kind of money in their situation to a overweight first baseman (Fielder) because his skills will only further decline. What happened once he was traded? He showed up months later 30lbs lighter and signed a contract. My opinion was he wanted to be a star, not just a big fish in a small pond. He didn't attempt to lose weight, he was shipped out. To me it showed the Marlins were willing, but Miggy's mind was weak.

New Batting Helmet
I didn't like it when the Cubs did it and I don't really like it now. I don't think it's "hideous" or "offensive", but it's just weird to me. Doesn't make any sense. Do you have a picture of the Cubs helmet? I believe you, but I'd like to see it. I can't find one that looks embroidered. Up so close with a camera phone you can't really appreciate how it looks on screen or even in person. Here's one http://www.carlscard...20110520362.gif and another.

New Batting Helmet
All it looks like is a marlins patch embroidered to the helmet. Doesn't look bad. I'll end up picking one up. Why would you make something look embroidered when there is nothing actually embroidered? That's why it looks bad. Also, that logo is still way too f***ing huge. The Cubs use the same method, its' so the parts that need to be raised are raised. In this case, I'm sure it was done to make sure the correct colors are on the helmet as they are on the hat, the blue, orange and yellow are a unique color and probably didn't come out right on printed stickers.

Pujols to Angels
Ken Rosenthal : Pujols wants protection for first five years, then 10/5 rights would kick in. #STLCards expected to talk again with Pujols camp today. #MLB *protection = no-trade clause. A ten year 200 million dollar deal for a 31 year old superstar is already a no trade clause. Who's going to take the marlins mistake (if it becomes one) even if the marlins eat half the contract 4 years from now? Only the cards for nostalgia- or desperation

Pujols to Angels
Squall if your wrong you have to post a picture of your self wearing a "Hanley has an attitude and is not a team player shirt." Make it so. Only if old timer agrees to wear a shirt that says the opposite when I'm proven right. I'll do it. I've been here long.

Worst and Best Giveaways In Florida/Miami Marlins History
I personally liked those trucker hats Micosookee sponsered with the front panel in teal one year as AJ Burnett and the next orange with josh beckett. I also liked the rings, I got about 3 of them. They were being hawked for $50 bucks at one point. I remember that day sitting next to bobby abreu's family.

Spoke to a Sales Agent about Free Agency Rumors
Personally I think Reyes and Buehrle are most likely, since they are not necessarily going to be super expensive. Plus Ozzie has the inside track with Buehrle and Reyes is friends with Hanley and likes the city. I wouldn't rule anything out, but everything I read in the spring about Pujols' contract situation indicated that he wants a long term commitment (like 10 years). Personally, I think the Marlins made respectable offers all across the board and are hoping that one thing pushes them into a Marlins Uniform. I think they picked particular targets on purpose. Reyes: Friends with Hanley, Dominican, a need at SS (Defensively) and it moves our best player to a position of need (3B). (Two defensive holes plugged, one offensive hole *3B). Reyes Nationality (Dominican) Pujols: Lives in Miami in the offseason, and has played with Reyes, and Hanley at the WBC. Pujols Nationality (Dominican) Buerhle: Former Standout Pitcher with Ozzie Guillen who happens to be the Marlins New Manager, Great working relationship. LHP Need. Cespedes: Cuban Defector that would have a easy adjustment living in Miami and playing baseball with what is quickly becoming a Latin American team in MLB. Hanley, Guillen, Bonifacio, Infante, Sanchez, G.Sanchez, all hispanic. They are banking on the players taking a bit of a risk or less commitment to come to a situation where it pretty much is as comfortable as can be. That would explain why they havent entertained Wilson (No Connection to anyone) or Fielder (No connection either). Same with Sizemore or any of the other FA's. They have no giant selling point to help a deal with them, so they are staying out of it. I like their strategy, I just hope it works with 2 of the 3. Their trade offer I bet is to Chicago for Zambrano as backup plan, incase Buerhle falls through. Another Ozzie guy. They may be waiting to see who they sign, so Zambrano can see it's a good team (one of the things he's complained about before was the Cubs playign like a AAA team or was a AAA team.) I think they take him if they are able to let him know he's not the face of the franchise, or even a star in the locker room, as JJ, Hanley, Pujols, Reyes and Ozzie are.

Where do Marlins fans come from?
When a Mommy Yankee Fan and a Daddy Phillies Fan are in love there are many things that go on in a womans body, like butterfly's and thoughts of restraining orders. Then those butterfly's manifest into a little rebellious Marlins fan, who carries the fandom on in times of celebration and renounces it in times of adversity.
