Marlins "Dead Serious"
You know If the Fish dont get at least one FA and they have anything close to the season they had last year they risk the possibility of fans turning their backs on the Miami Marlins and landing Loria In a load of Debt and having to sell the club, this is a real possibility if the Marlins start messing around with the Fans.. Step down from the ledge. Something will happen. It's only Nov. 18. Just gotta wait it out and fight the urge to think the worst. Fight it!

Oh, that Dan Jennings. Not the Vice President of Player Personnel and Assistant General Manager? Darn.

Team Colors and New Logo
I can't order clothes, especially athletic gear, online because I usually (OK always) have to find a youth sized jersey or shirt. Caps never fit. Is 4-foot-10 legally considered a Little Person? Because if so it's time to look into getting some benefits.

I like this move. Shameless plug. No, more like "linking to my expanded opinion". But you could have just copied and pasted it, right? Or summarized it. You want the click-throughs. That's understandable. Just calling it what it is. You can't blame me for wanting to get more visitors in the process? can you? I understand that you want to get hits on your blog, but it was a short enough post that you could have just written or copy-pasted it on here. I get it, though. Writers want to be read. But I wouldn't overly pimp your blog on a fansite because some can find it off-putting. You can provide a link to it on your profile. Otherwise, good for you starting a blog and exercising your writing muscles.

Glad he can coast on his clutch abilities and pure will to win now, but hopefully he improves fast because watching him for the other three quarters is insufferable and indeed he can't go on playing like that for too much longer. But his winning drives have proved exciting drama and last night turned my dad into an 8-year-old squealing over the phone about his idol. I'm a Dolphins phan anyway so I'm soooo over this season.

You can't take away the late-game playmaking, though. I'd agree he's "not that good a QB" overall for all the reasons you state, but the fact of the matter is he has made clutch fourth quarter plays with games on the line.

As for bringing up mechanics, my point is critics are always ripping Tebow's mechanics just as they do statistics, but the kid just finds ways to win games despite his unconventional style. I hate this argument. Bomani Jones was ranting about it last night, and he had a pretty great quote that sums things up: "sorry, i'm an economist. the difference between correlation and causation is huge to me. it means little to many, i see." People keep pointing to him as the reason they are winning; "the kid just finds ways to win games despite his unconventional style." However, what is unconventional about his style is that he's a bad quarterback. Just because he happens to be the QB of a team that is winning a game does not mean he's the reason they are winning. Like Jones says, it's the difference between correlation and causation. I hear what you're saying, and that "bad QB" assessment will always be up for debate when it comes to Tim Tebow. I admit he looks awful compared to the guy I watched play in person in Gainesville for four years (one season, 2007, from the sidelines). That, I admit, is my bias. I am used to watching that dude kick ass on the football field. I don't buy into the Jesus or "Tebowing," I just have seen him play up close for years and have nothing but respect for what he does and what he has done -- especially under constant criticism.

Stats can be used as an important tool to analyze players and teams. But so are mechanics AND intangibles (and WINS). You can find a happy medium. It's not that black and white. There will always be skeptics and stat monkeys and there will always be purists, and they will always argue their points to no end. It doesn't change any minds, as much as you want it to. You're just proving your points to yourselves. If you're going to stick your neck into an argument you're not a part of and treat those involved with condescension, at least be right. What do mechanics have to do with it? And get out of here with that "stat monkey" BS. Bobbob clearly said that both ought to be used, and I agree. I think Ashraf might even agree with that statement to some extent, too. Not only are you unfairly characterizing our thoughts, but you're doing it rudely, and all in an argument where you were uninvolved until now. Why are you so defensive? It's a forum. I'm not being rude, condescending or unfair, I'm just adding my two cents on the debate itself. You also have to understand that I am extremely bored right now. I was merely observing that both parties are set in their arguments and neither will change the other's mind. It's like Republicans and Democrats debating a bill. It gets nowhere. My bored self was just pointing that out. Because it's a forum. I don't see how it was rude or condescending. Being rude would be asking you if it was your time of the month. I'm really just trying to have us all hold hands and sing a song. Something really cool happened in Denver last night and that's what I wanted to focus on. As for bringing up mechanics, my point is critics are always ripping Tebow's mechanics just as they do statistics, but the kid just finds ways to win games despite his unconventional style. I'm sorry?

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Yeah that's to shut up all of the 'intangible' supporters. Excuuuuse me for being a little nostalgic when the team I've loved since I was 8 is no longer a team. Dontrelle was just fun to watch play. He plays the game with joy that you rarely see anymore. His ERA has skyrocketed over the years and his mechanics aren't ideal (neither are Tim Tebow's), but he has shown nothing but perseverance for the last four years, and he should be commended for that.

2 Wild Cards per League in 2012
If you think about it, baseball is the most exclusionary professional sport. Something like half of the NBA teams make the playoffs. I get why teams in tough divisions feel shafted when they have a better record than a team in a weaker division and that weaker team wins its division and makes the postseason. This is an attempt to reward more teams that have great seasons but play in tough divisions, like the AL East. I can also see how a No. 1 wild card winner would be pissed if they lost to a second wild card team. I'm not completely sold on it, but I'm not completely against it. I do, however, just want to eliminate interleague play, especially with the notion of playing interleague all season. It takes away from the excitement of facing off in the All-Star Game and the World Series. Let each league play its style of baseball until the Fall Classic.

Marlins, Reyes agree to 6 yr/106mil deal
A lot of teams are in the Cespedes sweepstakes so let's just assume Reyes is the star position player the Marlins land. 1. Reyes 6 2. Boni/Petey 8 3. Hanley 5 4. Stanton 9 5. Gaby 3 6. LoMo 7 7. Infante 4 8. Buck 2 9. SP 1 I would flip around Gaby and LoMo depending on whether they're facing a RHP or LHP or other circumstances. Pretty darn good lineup when you have Infante in the 7-hole.

Penn State - Sandusky thread
I read an interesting piece in The New York Times breaking down how investigators found victims and witnesses, got them to talk and found inaccuracies with the testimonies of Curley and Shultz. Victims were reluctant to participate out of fear they would not be believed. But the victims cooperated when subpoenaed. It was also revealed McQueary spilled the details ASAP when summoned and appeared to have been carrying the burden with him a long time and was relieved to have it lifted off his shoulders. Not fully defending him, but he definitely has been carrying the guilt of not doing more even though he had done what was legally required of him.

Oklahoma State women's basketball coach dies in plane crash
http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7250025/oklahoma-state-cowboys-coach-kurt-budke-assistant-miranda-serna-illed-plane-crash What is the deal with Oklahoma State basketball and plane crashes? This is so tragic. The season just started. It's going to be so difficult for those players to carry on. Women's college basketball teams are usually very tight knit. I hope they can dedicate their season to Coach Budke and play like he'd want them to -- even with heavy hearts.

Clayton Kershaw wins the NL Cy Young
Agreed. Proves just like Greinke you can play for a team with no chance of making the playoffs and still win the Cy Young. Suck it, Halladay

Marlins "Dead Serious"
Drop all thoughts about landing Pujols. It is such an outrageously unrealistic possibility. The meeting likely meant nothing to him. Gaby can hold down the fort just fine going into his third big league season. I'd be crossing my fingers for Reyes and Beuhrle. I feel the same way Im just hoping we get Reyes now, and im not even sure about that....im like 70% on that, with the Marlins you should Never get your hopes up for anything! I get that. After years of heartbreaking offseasons we're suddenly being told -- by the very FO that has broken our hearts over the years -- to believe the culture has automatically changed. But that remains to be seen. We haven't seen anything beyond speculation happen. A lot of FA signings don't happen until December, but Marlins fans are a fragile bunch and right now the days seem like weeks to us. We want our big FA signing(s) to show us the times are 'a-changin.' Until then, we're still not sold.

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Like a high leg kick.. a quirky character... a funny batting stance... Wait do they have stats for all of these? I just want homeboy in the dugout keeping things loose with the egos. On the cheap as...a backup outfielder.

Pujols to Angels
Albert Pujols will not sign with the Marlins. Never. Gonna. Happen. Jose, Jose, Jose, Jose...

C.J. Wilson to Angels
Dontrelle, despite a 5.00 ERA, actually looked pretty fresh towards the end of the season last year. I'm not saying go for him... but if I had to choose a miserable #5 pitcher between Volstad and Dontrelle... Volstad can go to hell. At least the D-Train can still rake and has all those intangibles you just can't look up on baseball-reference.

2 Wild Cards per League in 2012
When the Astros move to the AL West in 2013 there will be 15 teams in each league, therefore allowing year-long interleague play. Now that's where I draw the line.
