  1. Two years, $10 million with club option for 2014. DeJesus will fill their void in right field.
  2. *Shocking* High-profile pick for high-profile team.
  3. I wonder how many times the Marlins will take him deep.
  4. Can't say I remember tailgating at a baseball game, but I don't see why not. Ballpark beer is obscenely overpriced, which is why I smuggled my own beer into a Spring Training ballpark for an entire month this year.
  5. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! Sorry kiddo, just saying something that needed to be said. It's over now. I "got it off my chest."
  6. I knew he was in the top four, but I wasn't sure he'd make No. 1 because of the national media's hatred of the Marlins. Bout time they recognized!
  7. I'd also like to nominate PurpleHaze for the Troll A. Bethan award for correcting my grammar on a correction so trollishly. Mike, you take the cake for the Troll A. Bethan award for immaturely pointing out my chest in the photo thread. Correcting your punctuation after you tried to embarrass that guy by incorrectly correcting his grammar was a teaching moment at most. What you did was not just trollish, but downright rude and in very poor taste. It's over and done with, but you should look who's talking. Just saying.
  8. Rick Perry, ladies and (mostly) gentlemen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf7VUO0bvHw It's not even a "gotcha" moment. Also, Election Day is Nov. 6, not Nov. 12. You can hear a guy laughing at him at the end.
  9. 2005? Got Hanley out of that, though, so it's not the *most* annoying offseason.
  10. This is perhaps the most annoying offseason yet 1997? 2007?
  11. It really is embarrassing that the Kansas governor's communications director monitors what citizens say about the governor (who has a 52 percent disapproval rating) on social media sites when their job is mainly to write speeches for the governor and things of that nature. And big ups to the girl for standing her ground and refusing to write a letter of apology for her harmless tweet. The school should be embarrassed as well.
  12. Teams better act fast. Really small time frame to make moves.
  13. I'd only see him as a Wes Helms type of player on the roster...but better.
  14. Gaby clotheslining Nyjer Morgan was one of the highlights of that season for me.
  15. Source: Cubs call Pujols' reps http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7294424/source-chicago-cubs-call-st-louis-cardinals-free-agent-albert-pujols-reps-express-interest That would be a hell of a way for Theo to start his tenure in Chicago.
  16. Billy looks like he's been rolling around in body paint during a bad acid trip.
  17. And why was Davis continuing his sexual relations with Fine until he was 27? I don't understand that. Sexual assault can have really severe repercussions as far as long term mental health is concerned. I agree I did wonder about 27. There is something to say when the person commiting the battery is a person of authority in respect to the child. But this went into adulthood. I would have thought the coach would not appear as a person in authority at that time. He didn't work at the college in some capacity for Fine did he as an adult? It is also bizarre to me that he would talk to Fine's wife about it. That's an odd relationship also let alone the affair they had. I do know someone I met who had sexually abused by her older brother. As a child she somehow believed that it was "normal" for this type of relationship occur. She did not talk to anyone about it because either her brother said it was normal or she just thought so. But it went into her late teens/early 20's and stopped when her brother moved out to get married. Then somehow the realization hit. This person does have many mental health issues and has been on disability at times and at times unable to hold a job down. And when she finally told her parents what was going on, her parents wouldn't believe her and sided with the brother. What a mess. That is horrible, and that is a big reason why victims keep quiet. Same goes for victims of sexual harassment (not counting women represented by Gloria Allred), but the real ones out of fear of nobody believing them.
  18. Seems like a downgrade for the Rays but I have no knowledge of this besides surface value. I havent looked anything up but isnt Jose Molina the aging veteran as opposed to Jaso who was a youngster on his way up? John Jaso was basically John Bakered. He was traded for a reliever, and the Rays can afford to do that because they have promising young catching depth in Jose Lobaton (who they're really high on) and Robinson Chirinos. Kelly Shoppach, last year's main catcher for Tampa Bay, was horrendous. Molina is going to be a veteran presence for sure, but this past season in 55 games for Toronto he hit .281 and posted a .342 OBP, threw out 33 percent of baserunners and committed only one error. He knows what he's doing behind the plate. I'm pretty sure the rookie will get a majority of the playing time, but Molina's not too shabby of a backup.
  19. I don't think they'll be able to afford two starters. And they don't need a bat as badly. I like the plan to sign one starter and then trade for another. Sign a bat with whatever is less. On top of that, I don't think the Marlins can land more than one of Wilson/Buehrle/Jackson without overpaying. Are the Marlins looking at Edwin Jackson? If so, no thanks. There has to be a reason he's been passed around like Kim Kardashian at an NBA All-Star Game.
  20. Bizarre story. I'll preface it by saying #rickscottcansuckmynonexistentd*ck http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/28/opinion/obeidallah-brownback-tweet-apology/index.html?hpt=hp_c1 Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?
  21. The kid's a tremendous athlete with wheels and would be an upgrade in center field, but he's only "potentially available." If I'm the Pirates, I'm building my franchise around him. We'll see how real of a possibility Pittsburgh shopping McCutchen is during Winter Meetings. But why try and build your franchise on one above average player when you can trade him and get four potentially average players! That's how the Pirates operate. Bwahaha. Well played.

  23. Who's Coughlan? I've never heard of his Coughlan guy. Did we just sign him? I know we have Chris Coghlan... HA HA HA! I get it, cause he said "Coughlan," but it's really spelled "Coghlan." God, you're hilarious. It's such a common misspelling, I'm surprised nobody realizes it. Doesn't matter. Also, I fixed your grammar. Try again. And I fixed your punctuation. You're welcome.
  24. What does THIS mean? JK I know what it means. I just thought it was funny. D_Train35 Dontrelle Willis I asked Jeff Conine " niner u got change for a 100 " he said " train, that is change ". I said " feel that ish " words to live by #marlins
