November 15, 200421 yr If the FO were to make some other changes to the roster I'd agree that Guillen could bring some needed RBIs to the lineup. Assuming Guillen is the real deal we (being fans) might be better off looking at him costing $6 million next season not $3.5 million, the remainder going as part of a compensation package to jettison Encarnacion and hopefully picking up a meaningful prospect or bullpen help. Additionally, I'm still in the camp that thinks we need at least one run-producing lefty bat in the lineup, so if you agree, then when need to really jiggle our roster to make room but that's for another day. I for one (and let's not turn this into a Hee Seop Choi love/hate thread, this is just one man's opinion) wouldn't mind seeing Choi (especially at his low salary) back to platoon at first with Conine. I was disappointed to see him go (not the man, but the potential I thought he represented) and if the opportunity arose that he was available for minimal compensation I'd certainly welcome him back with open arms. A lineup of Pierre, LoDuca, Cabrera (LF), Lowell, Guillen (RF), Conine/Choi, Castillo (yeah, I know there's a debate here and in the Marlins FO regarding where to bat Louie) and Gonzalez seems to me to be at least adequate, if not impressive (within the $$$ constraints the Marlins face).

However, I think we have to work to our "power strengths" as the Yankees cater to their short right field. PPS' right field dimensions are not exactly friendly to lefty power, so I have no problem (in theory) with us going right-handed power dominant. And, I wouldn't mind seeing Choi back for the cost of nothing, but I'm not lining up to try to pry him away from LA.

I'm "siding with him" because you are contradicting yourself. You're using the evidence of him being cut/traded/signing else where as proof of how bad he is in the club house in comparison to Bonds and other jackasses around the league. If Bonds sucked, no team would want his attitude in their club house. Switch their numbers and Bonds would be the one on the trading block, not Guillen. If you don't see the flaw in your logic, I feel bad for you. Both Guillen and Bonds (same with Kent, Sosa, etc.) have gotten the "club house cancer" label in the national press. A player being cut or traded verse a team keeping the player doesn't necessarily reflect who is a better person in the club house. Bonds could beat up half the players on the Giants team and the owner would trade those players over Bonds because of his ability, not his personality.
