January 23, 200521 yr Johnny Carson, King of Late Night, Dies LOS ANGELES - Johnny Carson, the "Tonight Show" TV host who served America a smooth nightcap of celebrity banter, droll comedy and heartland charm for 30 years, has died. He was 79. "Mr. Carson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning," his nephew, Jeff Sotzing, told The Associated Press. "He was surrounded by his family, whose loss will be immeasurable. There will be no memorial service." Sotzing would not give further details, including the time of death or the location. The boyish-looking Nebraska native with the disarming grin, who survived every attempt to topple him from his late-night talk show throne, was a star who managed never to distance himself from his audience.

January 23, 200521 yr that really sucks, i was hoping he would make a comeback someday. So now he can join Jack Parr and Steve Allen in rolling over their graves over what Leno has done to the tonight show and that Conan O'Brien is about to take over
January 23, 200521 yr wow, this is a shocker. I didn't even remember hearing he had emphysema... he's the king of late-night far as I'm concerned. 'course I never got to watch Jack Parr & all the older hosts... an all-around gentleman. g'night Johnny. RIP.

January 24, 200521 yr sad sad day, there will never ever be another person on late night t.v. as good as johnny... i heard someone say this before to someone and it was the first thing that came to my mind when i heard johnny had passed away.. Thank You for the laughter of my childhood....
