March 1, 200521 yr According to my resources, there is a three team trade on the table between the Marlins, Braves, and Athletics. Florida Gets: 2B Marcus Giles from Atlanta (.311 AVG, 8 HR, 48 RBI) OF Eric Byrnes from Oakland (.283 AVG, 20 HR, 73 RBI) SP Barry Zito from Oakland (11-11, 4.84 ERA) Oakland Gets: 2B Luis Castillo from Florida (.294 AVG, 2 HR, 47 RBI) OF Chris Aguila from Florida (.222 AVG, 3 HR, 5 RBI) SP Ismael Valdez from Florida (14-9, 5.02 ERA) Atlanta Gets: 2B Mark Ellis from Oakland (2003: .293 AVG, 5 HR, 48 RBI) OF Juan Encarnacion from Florida (.236 AVG, 16 HR, 62 RBI) RP Seth Etherton from Oakland (3-1, 4.03 ERA)
March 1, 200521 yr sounds like BS unless beane is going crazy. and atlanta only gives up one player and gets 3 back? WTF? with that said, id love to have zito in teal instead of valdez. if this is true, i think our payroll goes down.
March 1, 200521 yr im sorry i have to disagree. i don't think the marlins are that dumb to give up one its most valuable weapons in castillo. so your sources are wrong.and if their right then fo is dumb for giving up the best second baseman in the game.
March 1, 200521 yr Too big of a blockbuster for S.T.; and Zito/Encarnacion have yet to prove that 2004 was an aberration, so until then, they're not moving...
March 1, 200521 yr If it isn't, it should be a CRIME to break-up the best DP Duo in baseball. I think this report is BS.
March 1, 200521 yr I just searched the Oakland Tribune website for any mention of this and I found none, going back 14 days. The last Byrnes trade rumor published in the paper I could find was to Pittsburgh. If you can provide a link that would be terrific. Thanks.
March 1, 200521 yr The marlins would get the best deal BY FAR. But there is no way that would happen. I would hate to see one of my favorites Luis go, but for those 3 players we would have to pull the trigger.
March 1, 200521 yr The Fish would be getting the best in this deal EASILY. Yeah, they lose Luis but come on! Getting Giles, Byrnes and Zito is definetly worth pulling off this deal.
March 1, 200521 yr Looks like this would be an unbelievable deal for the Marlins. Seems like the A's are giving up far too much. If this is real Beinfest would pull the trigger in a heartbeat. That being said...I don't believe this is real.
March 1, 200521 yr What about Mike Cameron? The Mets are really desperate for relief pitching, we have plenty. Although I don't think Jones, Reidling, Mecir or Alfonseca can be traded until mid-May. Could Encarnacion and Perisho/Bump do the job? What about Spooneybarger and Encarnacion? Should Pierre leave in a year or two, Cameron could move back to centerfield where he's much better.

March 1, 200521 yr :lol :lol Are you kidding me? There is no way Oakland AND Atlanta are both that stupid. Whats funny is that not only did this guy clearly make it up, but some people think the Marlins are being ripped off.

March 1, 200521 yr According to my resources, you are a buffoon. 698286[/snapback] i agree he is a buffoon... :thumbup :thumbup :whistle
